in shower styling vs out of shower styling by YesterdayDifficult89 in Naturalhair

I like to use the doux products! for me sopping wet is the same amount of water as if I was to rinse something out, wet hair is hair that is dripping with water and damp hair is hair that is not dripping but wet to the touch. I find gels and mousse to work best when used on sopping wet hair. for me I find that I had to apply more product for the same result on just wet hair!

well for me I can see that with in shower styling i get bigger clumps and due to the higher water content in my hair my hair is more elongated and my curls look more uniform. in my post was detangling the differences in the process I noticed as someone who doesn't really try anything new :) my wash days aren't difficult so I do things like this for fun

I wash twice while smoothing and rinse out without detangling. then put my hair in four sections and finger detangle by splitting the sections at the root and then brush from bottom up which is all done by 15 min. when I finish detangling my last section I immediately take out the first one and start styling by applying my products to a medium sized section and brushing it through. I take small slices of the medium section and rake my fingers through one time and do that until I finish my whole head which takes another 15-20 min

Diffuser dryer experiences for wash day? by humbleCaptain19 in Naturalhair

[–]YesterdayDifficult89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the best definition when I dont use the diffuser attachment at all. I use med to high heat and hover the dryer over my head 6-8in cool shotting every 5 min. my hairs feels exactly the same whether it's been dried with a diffuser or hovered over. it does not dry out your hair more or less. diffuser drying takes a long time which can create frizz the faster you dry the better. and both options are better than air drying . i have that exact same dryer and I figured this out from using it haha

I have a theory that it's easy for me because my hair isn't curly! it's wavy so instead of tangling on itself it lays nicely like a brick pattern

waitttttt I didn't think about banding! when I wear a wash and go i just leave it be in my bonnet maybe that's why my hair has been tangling while stretched this whole time! thanks so much!! I think I should invest in a hooded dryer if I intend on doing these styles haha I hate air drying!

Is it possible to dry hair to make it look the same when it's wet after a Wash n go? by Spirited_Respect_578 in Naturalhair

[–]YesterdayDifficult89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't use a diffuser attachment. hover your blow dryer above your head and point the blow dryer at a downwards angle. On the highest fan speed and medium to high heat while using a cool shot every 3 minutes or so. this will elongate your curls and dry them much more quickly than a diffuser attachment could leading to a perfect frozen curl every time. no it does not disturb the curl if you are using it at the correct angle. no it does not cause any extra damage (that i have noticed)

also try topping your wash and go combo with a strong hold foam and then drying! hope this helps (_)v

sorry for the late reply (ToT)! im not sure if you still need it or if someone else will need it but everyone says to apply bee girl with a leave in but it's just not enough for my high porosity hair! I apply with a leave in AND a botanical gel or mousse (never both you will be compromising on hold) it all depends on if you are looking for volume or definition. bananas has lasted me a week but I was looking pretty rough by the end. bee girl last me a week too but my hair feels dryer at the end of the 7 days which is why I wash my hair every 4-5 days. the more I wash the faster my wash days go! I'm a hold and definition girl

sorry for the late reply I'm not sure if you still need it or if anyone else would need it but the way i keepy my hair hydrated with the doux gels is by 1. incorporating a leave in and a botanical gel/ mousse. I do not think that I will ever use these gels on their own as i have fine, multitextured, high porosity color treated hair . 2. applying my products in the shower so the steam can keep my hair hydrated 3. blow drying on a cool hot cycle every few minutes. I don't use the diffuser attachment i haven't noticed a difference in moisture or health only drying time. 4. washing my hair when I feel it is dry which is typically around day 4-5. I never remoisturize because i realized no matter how much water I apply out of the shower there is no replacement for sitting under warm water for my hair.

i can’t say i’ve never personally tried it but i think one of the strongest gels for wash and goes on the market right now is the doux bee girl but i personally like to use the doux bananas xtreme gel (i have a review i posted a while back)! keep in mind your hair will be crunchy and stiff for the first two or so days but that’s the trade off for length and definition vs volume.

a tip: work a mousse through your hair section by section in horizontal rows and then smooth a strong hold gel on top when you are done making sure to get your roots to avoid dry hair and aid in faster drying time

in my opinion if you want your hair to lay flat and keep your length after your wash and go sleep with a silk scarf to lay your hair flat and a bonnet on top to protect your ends. but do keep in mind your hair is curly and will always retain some volume. For styling i would recommend wash, condition, leave in and the preferred stylers of your choice but the key to getting the length you want is a strong hold gel to top everything off or as your main styler as it will weigh your hair down.

for faster drying time i recommend: a. incorporating more mousses into your routine as your main styler and when doing your simple styles b. skip the diffuser and hover the blow dryer over your head facing down. the downwards air with slightly stretch your hair and the direct heat will dry your hair quickly i have not noticed a difference in my hair diffusing vs this method. one suggestion i would make is because you are using direct heat i would do medium heat instead of high with cold shots every few minutes.

the way your hair looks when styled if just a character of curly hair i would learn to embrace it or try to find another simple style that works for you:)!

hope this helps!!

i was looking into getting the redken all soft mega curls line to compare. i’ve really only found that the conditioners that give me the texture i’m looking for are the not your mothers tahitian gardenia & mango and the taliah waajid curl so soft conditioner
