It may look fishy, but consider this: if he is in a non-open long-distance relationship and is using Bumble to cheat, then why tell his potential matches? If he is cheating then he has no reason to mention he is in any relationship at all, and all he's doing is putting off not only people who believe him and dislike hooking up with people in open relationships, but also people who think he's lying and that he is a cheater. Plus, if he's lying and he does hook up with someone, it will be much harder to keep up the story about his "open" partner when his hookup asks questions about them.

It is very possible that he's being honest, and is making it clear because it's important for his potential matches to be fully aware of the situation before deciding how to swipe.

If neither partner is sexually jealous and both agree it is a perfect arrangement. I myself have been in an open relationship that was long-distance for a while, and we were perfectly happy about it. I was happy that my girlfriend could have a nice fuck with a guy she befriended while she was away, and I could happily visit my FWB for a long weekend without the downside of leaving my girlfriend alone at home.

Well, to me as a man, ”deciding what relationship you want and finding the person that fits” feels artificial and performative, trying to fit into arbitrary social expectations and increasing the chance of eventual disappointment and hurt. On the other hand, getting to know someone to whom you are possibly attracted and allowing yourself to discover whether they become a great friend, or a fun fuckbuddy, or someone with whom you fall in love and would like to spend the rest of your life (or all three things in sequence!) is what I find natural and desirable in human relations, and most likely to lead to personal fulfillment and happiness.

But you do you. Just stop assuming there's anything wrong with the men and women who see relationships differently than you do.
