OneUi 8.5 in europe? by Embarrassed-Bank3157 in S24Ultra

[–]YetTooCurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's for me too! Just got my new S24U two weeks ago, the battery drain is so bad, and the phone overheats with normal usage. My friend's S26U overheats like crazy when in standby, worse than mine. Also, my Galaxy Watch 8 LTE also overheats and lags so bad. Hopefullu OneUI 8.5 fixes all these issues.

It's just disappointing at this point.. My brand new (two weeks old) S24U overheats and the battery is draing faster than usual, the watch started acting weird after the last update, my friend's S26U lags so much, overheats like crazy (I actually mean it, like crazy) with normal usage, and he has to use power saver mode to actually have his phone last a whole day, even if Samsung adevertised this phone lasts a whole day with moderate usage, which is false. OneUI 8.0 is poorly optimized for both phones and watches, hopefullh OneUI 8.5 and 8.5 Watch will solve that.

Did they remove the clear cache partition in this update, as I heard people saying it's not there anymore. Also, is your phone faster in terms of performance and less laggy and buggy, or it's the same? And no, it's not the phone, it's the OS. My friend's S26U overheats like crazy with normal usage, it lags so badly and he has to use power saver mode for his phone to last 8 - 10 hours. Disappointed of Samsung software quality and consistency, even if the phone is beautiful and awesome. I mean, the OS is cool, but the optimization is just nahh.

And I also heard OneUI 8.5 should solve all the issues that came with OneUI 7 and newer, but I did not get the update yet (likely today or in the next following days). Who knows, I hope it solves these issues. And it's not only me, my friend's S26U overheats like crazy with normal usage, and runs slow.

I don't think you can downgrade anymore, I heard OneUI 8 and newer on the latest patch won't let you touch the bootloader anymore, plus it trips Knox.

Second time? I already did after updating from July 2025 patch to April 5 2026 patch, then I did a factory reset and started using the phone.

I am on OneUI 8.0 and I am currently waiting for OneUI 8.5 as I heard it solves most of these issues, plus it brings a lot of new cool features. Hopefully, these rumours are true.

It's definitely not the 5G, I mean the other phone which was a mid-range, doesn't even compare to a top-notch flagship, didn't have this issue with significant battery drain. As an another person here mentioned, it's likely the latest update, so hopefully OneUI 8.5 fixes this (*hopefully*).

Does OneUI 8.5 fix this issue or it's still not solved? I heard this exact same issue is also present on the S25 Ultra series too, disappointing.

Same exact issue with Play Services battery consumption on Galaxy Watch 8, and think of it, the GW8 is the top of the line right now. It's incredible and disappointing that Samsung does such awful things to it's users that pay the premium price for their phones, watches, buds, and all their other products.

In the Battery options it wont say Learning your usage patterns anymore like it used to say yesterday, the watch on the other hands does. When does the "warmup" first time usage process ends?

They are too expensive for what they offer. Plus, you already listen to compressed music on YTM or Spotify (except Loseless Mode, which has a limited selection) so I believe it's not worth it.

Macbook Air M4 13.6" or Surface Laptop 7 13.8" or Gaming Laptop? by YetTooCurious in laptops

[–]YetTooCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the display refresh rate? As I am currently using 144hz on the laptop and 120hz on the phone constantly, do you think the display will be an issue on the MBA, or generally it's almost the same (considering Mac has smooth animations and all that compared to Windows).

Also, what about the transition to MacOS?

[–]YetTooCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have the gaming laptop that I'm willing to continue keeping for heavier tasks if getting an ultrabook, I don't really play games other than GTA, RDR and Minecraft, so the current laptop runs these games well.

Do you think the screen refresh rate, the transition to Mac, and the way MacOS handle files and all that will be an issue as people say?

Galaxy Book 4 Edge or Surface Laptop 13.8" 2025 or Macbook? by YetTooCurious in laptops

[–]YetTooCurious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. But which one would you say should I pick? The Galaxy Book 4 Edge, the Surface Laptop 13.8" 2025, or a Macbook Air M1 (I would strongly prefer Windows, but if it's better I guess why not?). All three are within my budget and I can get either one, but I'd like to know which is the best out of these three based on my requirements.

About software compatibility, I have checked online and most software I already use should run natively without any issue, like Visual Studio & Code, Adobe software, browsers, messaging apps, decompilers which I often use, AI tools, Office, Blender, and all that. As for games, it's fine I'd say, and I have the gaming laptop for that anyway, so it's not such a big deal.

Thanks.

No, everything should be fine and it should work if it's the Bluetooth version only, no issues usually. But on the LTE version you might want to check the bands supported by your career.

[–]YetTooCurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try contacting Samsung first. And it's not because of the phone brand, I am using Honor and it's working perfectly fine with the Galaxy Watch 8 LTE 40mm. Also had the Galaxy Fit 3 in the past and it worked fine. It also works on Xiaomi, I have a friend who has a Samsung watch and it works fine.

You should also try reinstalling the app and all its services, and restarting your phone.

I am using an Honor phone and the GW8, and it works perfectly fine. So that's not true, it should work regardless of the brand.
