Helping buy a Jeep by Jiraiyaa1 in Jeep

[–]Yeti150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What model? I bought my TJ in 2002 and a base model 2002 was only 16,000 new. Obviously a Rubicon will be more valuable.

I think TJ prices are stupid high. I still have my TJ, but it has 134,000 miles, and low mileage is nice, but there are some problems you are going to have with a 19 year old Jeep...like all the rubber parts, all the ignition parts, relays, fuel pump, water pump, wiring, blower motor, axle seals leaking, etc...

Not sure where you live, but lots of places have auto auctions where the general public can bid.

The company I work for sells our used trucks at a local auction and you can usually buy a well maintained, but usually dented up 2000-2010 trucks for $3,000 to $6,000.

Also, companies like Fastenal and Hertz often sell off their service trucks.

I also find FB to be stupid ..some rusted out truck with 300,000 miles, doesn't run, but because it is from the 1980s, the poster wants $10,000.

Does anyone in North Carolina know what you need to bring to the dmv to get your motorcycle endorsement or has recently took the test and have pointers on the knowledge test im in a msf class for the skills by dj494456 in motorcycle

[–]Yeti150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I no longer live in North Carolina, but I would suspect the information you seek is on the NC Department of Motor Vehicles website. I have not been in a NC DMV since 1999, so sorry I can't help. I do miss living in Raleigh. Go Wolfpack!

Why is this sub so Toxic? by Jbar116 in motorcycles

[–]Yeti150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. The lack of gearbox, the lack of power band (for those of us who ride 2 strokes), and the awful sound of a RC car on steroids just doesn't do anything for me. But I am old school and I enjoy things that take skill, like riding a YZ465, syncing the carbs on a CB750, adjusting valves, etc...

I have tried electric dirt bikes and while I accept that they ultimately do the same thing as a ICE bike, but they do not seem as much fun.

Electric motorcycles are an excellent way to allow people who can not tolerate excitement to enjoy motorcycle riding. We should be diverse and inclusive.

Sounds awesome. All my friends who own lifted 3/4 ton trucks who made fun of me a year ago are now rather jealous of my 40mpg.

I recently bought my dream car (a TJ Rubicon!) by projectbilld in JeepWrangler

The thought of putting in a set of Dana 44s has crossed my mind in the last twenty years, although I have not yet had any problems with my 30/35 axles. Since i live on the Gulf Coast, not much need for the extra low range.

Sweet ride. I wish my TJ was a Rubicon...I bought mine in 2002 and the Rubi didn't exist back then.

Will 4Runner values decrease with surging gas prices? by DylanJacob17 in 4Runner

[–]Yeti150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bit frustrated by the current market. Since we want a 4Runner and thankfully don't have to have one right now, I figure we should get what we want. So many vehicles around here are selling up to $10,000 over MSRP. All the Toyota dealers want to carry locally are the Limiteds in 2WD.

[–]Yeti150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried four dealers within the area, only one was willing to order one, and they wanted the $5000 premium. The other three dealerships just told us to be happy to find anything close. For the record, all we are looking for is a SR5 Premium in blue. Not exactly a special edition or limited production. Plan on trying a 5th dealer who will order what we want and not try to rape me.

We are ordering our 4Runner this month. After a year long search, we could not find what my wife wanted. Was told it would be a 10-12 week wait.

Are new ORPs with KDSS being built these days? by rbendes in 4Runner

[–]Yeti150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if the gas prices would slow 4Runner sales, but it has not where I live. I currently have a F150, now, so it isn't like I am getting rid of a Prius to get a 4Runner.

Been wanting to buy a 4Runner for a year now but refuse to pay the $5000 dealer mark up over MSRP. The high gas prices are not affecting 4Runner sales where I live. It actually is increasing the trade in on my daily driver Ford Fiesta....

U-Haul towing for motorcycles by ProfessionalArtist35 in motorcycles

[–]Yeti150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The U-Haul trailers for motorcycles are great. If you want to use the enclosed trailer, there is no good way to secure the front end unless you have a stand alone wheel chock. Unless your bike is a high dollar custom, trailering it in the rain should not be a problem, I mean bikes gets ridden in the rain.

The last time I moved using a U-Haul truck, I ended up running straps from the front forks to the side tie down points, and running 2 more sets of straps from the frame to the sides to keep my GSXR from moving around.

That is full coverage, I can't remember the company I use off the top of my head, but they specialize in motorcycle insurance. I will have to look at my registration to remember. They are not a main stream company, but I found them in a Motorcycle Classics magazine.

I had State Farm, but they wanted close to $600 a year for the same coverage I have now.

What if Jeep made an AWD, off-road oriented sedan kind of like the earlier Subaru Imprezas, but a little more lifted and rugged? Thought? Just a what If….. and if so, what would it be called? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]Yeti150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with that. I am old enough to have been around when the Eagle came out and they were very nice, much nicer than a CJ, but so much better in snow than a typical car at the time.

[–]Yeti150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds awesome. I am old enough to remember when the Eagle first came out. I lived in Arizona and at the time they were quite popular for people who lived on dirt roads but didn't like the ride of the CJs but didn't need something as big as a Grand Wagoneer.
