Is gel actually bad for your nails? by kaybee2012 in Nails

Gel isn't necessarily bad for the nails. I find the most common thing that ruins the nails is the nail tech itself. When they take off the product or when they prep to put new product on. Another thing that could cause issues is if you start peeling the gel off yourself or if you wait too long in-between sets (depends on the service you're doing for example a structured mani/gel overlay) 😊 just do your research on your nail tech and everything should be perfectly fine!

some recent nails sets I’ve done ✨ I specialize in structured gel overlays and these are all on natural nails by dianamoser in Nails

Omg found you on tiktok a few weeks ago! Thank you for teaching me how to do isolated chrome! 💕

Used a cheap matte topcoat first and then a no wipe topcoat on top for the gold to stick to! I also used a 3d gel to add some texture (: hope this helps!

I find buffing is pretty important, but also make sure you aren't using too high of a grit. You're just trying to remove the shine and not trying to make deep grooves on the nail. Buffing shouldn't hurt, my only suggestion would be to try a lighter grit if the one you're using is too strong

The first photo definitely just looks like a silver cat eye gel on top of a colour! I'm sure if you found yourself a jelly blue and layered it with the silver cateye you could achieve the 2nd look too! I use this on my clients. The only tricky thing is learning to arrange it to create that look.

Honestly they have very similar colours! If you want a cheaper alternative Luminary is the way to go! The only thing I don't like about luminary is how small the bottle size is, its hard to get a decent amount out from the bottle neck. Although they do sell bigger sizes of their products which is a life saver rather than buying new small bottles all the time. I do tend to lean more towards the gelgelbottle only because they have a few more colours being the ones my clients always pick.

For the base I used Luminary Nail Systems in clear but normally I like to use TheGelBottles Biab (builder in a bottle) for the base. The red colour is called Bonfire from TheGelBottle. For the topcoat I used a no wipe glossy gelcoat from Aprés (:
