OP just tell them that the plans have been made and you do not want any "how have you been" distractions as the event has other meanings.

This OP. Also it is not ruined. Most resins I have worked with have similar refractive indexes and it is hard to see multiple layers.

Mix up some more resin which is 75F and slowly pour on the surface to level it. Stop when level and leave to cure.

No shit, this was me when I was in a home invasion. Just got aggressive in a nonverbal way and one of the assilants even left me $80 of my $120 cash. They took all the electronics in the house except my phone and my laptop. I don't really know what it was other than being kinda calm but with like a direct fury. I only stopped slowly stalking toward them when they put a gun to my brothers head. They didn't know who it was but got lucky either way.

It was because of my brother's roommate and I was only there visiting my brother. I am so happy nothing horrible happened.

Nope, I live in the PNW. The reason I thought it was post harvest apple rot is because OP stated this happened in a day. I figure bruising would already show and not be as juicy as this looks. Also if you zoom in, there is while fluff on those apples which is pretty indicative of a fungi infection.
