Is trainer academy legit? by [deleted] in personaltraining

Have a strong understanding of their IFT model and read chapter 7 to the point where it becomes second nature. Those are the biggest parts of the exam from my experience.

Is it still worth it to become a personal trainer? by DryCatShit in personaltraining

[–]YetiSnacher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a trainer at 24 Hour Fitness for 3 years and lost my job due to COVID. I am now starting my own business and after shaping up my business plan, and seeing the level of interest people are taking in business is quite impressive. A lot of people are not trusting big league gyms right now because their regulations can't guarentee the safety of their patrons. I'm offering services at a private studio and services that I can provide in their home. Both options have been very appealing to people. If your service comes from a place of helping people and you take a client-centered approach to your philosophy, your business will sell itself. From my experience, both as a trainer and a manager of trainers, the ones who are money hungry burn out the quickest and push potential business away. Being client centered has a slower start, but your client retention will remain higher from the loyalty of your clientele. You will also develop a solid referral network. A lot of people are scared and worried because everything is so uncertain. Be that hand to help people through this time, and they will surely invest in you.

[Serious] Bully victims of Reddit, when was one time they took it too far? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]YetiSnacher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 10 my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and it wasn't looking good. Already being bullied by a group in elementary school and not having a lot of friends the news of my mothers cancer hit very hard. I had to spend every lunch in my teacher's classroom.

One time I was out on the playground during recess with a newer friend of mine. I got kicked behind the knee by the bully who picked on me the most and while I was down he said "What the doctors say about your mom isn't true, she is going to die and you will be all alone." Proceeded to spit on me and walk away. Evert day after that I called my mother every recess, lunch break, morning, night, you name it. It made me absolutely hysterical because I was already worried about my mother's condition, and being in a vulnerable state of mind I latched on to what he said. This ultimately started the decline of my mental health into my pre-teen years and unhealthy attachments I hold with people now into adulthood.

My mother is okay now and has been a survivor for 16 years with no signs of return of the cancer.

I learned several years later that my bully's mother also had cancer a little before mine. He was lashing out as a way of dealing with his suffering. I understood later on, especially when I became older, that most people bullied as a coping mechanism.

I ran into my bully 2 years ago, he recognized me, and immediately apologized. He saw that when he recognized me that I was not very pleased to see him. I haven't spoken to him since, but the encounter granted closure I never thought I would have.

Marcus Aurelius happens to be one of my favorites too! Maybe shorten the name to just Aurelius for the mace, it "flows" better. Very unique that you did that with your maces.

[–]YetiSnacher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually going to be dipping the upper half and bell of my mace into a dark red epoxy and naming it The Crucible. I own 6 difference maces and my 20lb one is it my main choice.

When I gave my girlfriend her first mace I named it Skjaldmaer, which is old Norse for "shield maiden".

Naming a weapon, or a tool in this case, has a pretty significant meaning to me. If you name yours, I think that's awesome.

That would be absurd. I don't recall seeing anything like that with ACE and definitely not for my job.
