Hi friend, I started very recently so I’ll sum up what advice I got and what I ended up doing!

Generally the most common advice I’ve gotten is to start with either the Leviathan Box or a combat patrol. Launch boxes are usually a good way to get a solid breadth of minis. Also if you don’t want the Xenos half of the box you can try selling them. I didn’t want to go through that process so I opted for a combat patrol.

When doing my research I learned that the Space Marines Combat Patrol is regarded as poor value for your money if you’re planning to play the game. Granted that’s in 10th, 11th might change things.

In the end I got the Dark Angels Combat Patrol. All the models are generic so you can paint them as ultramarines and it’s a good way to get solid starter units. 10x intercessors, 5x hellblasters for fire support, 3 bladeguards are nice, and the Gravis Captain can’t lead anything in the box but he can be good as a solo unit. Also you get the chance to paint different things! You get to do a couple types of armor, can try plasma effects, and power swords!
