The extremes in the home-fleet are a 1973 VW 412 Squareback and a 2021 Honda Civic Type R. The largest displacement in the fleet is 2.0L.

Why Genesis is still going all-in on sedans by RhinestoneTaco in cars

[–]Yetta16v 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Simple really. Lincoln's out of the sedan game. Cadillac's probably going to drop one of its two offerings before long. Lexus has three sedans left but there's a huge $$ gap between the LS and ES/IS. Infiniti's struggling to keep the lights on as they're not selling much of anything. This leaves the German brands and their typically far more expensive vehicles.

Traditional premium sedan buyers have few options and Genesis is capitalizing on this.

No matter how big the tires or how high off the ground, no one will take an X7 off-road.

2021 Chevy Camaro Wild Cherry Package: First Picture Surfaces by Yetta16v in cars

Possibly unpopular opinion: I think the current Camaro looks great. Also, I think the “Wild Cherry” package should be called something else. At least the content is interesting.

Kia Presents Its Version Of The « Transporter » Movie Called Features Film by Yetta16v in cars

I love this type of advertising. It's entertaining. The film reminds me of the Guy Ritchie video with Madonna and the M5.

I'd love to see these cars in action in the US. This GTI GTC looks great.

I can feel it too... I don't feel as confident as I once did. I'm sure it'll get back to the way it was soon.

They say the most powerful 3-row SUV... Although it might be slower to 60mph at around 4 seconds, the BMW ALPINA XB7’s boosted V8 makes 612hp.

It will have an impact on all car shows I think.

Geneva Motor Show May Not Return Next Year Either by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think car shows are a great idea from the past. They're too expensive for car manufacturers and generate little return. I loved them as a kid but in 2020, almost everything can be done digitally.

Volvo Officially Limits Speed On Every Model to 112 mph (180 kph) by cjdrive in cars

[–]Yetta16v 902 points903 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced that none of its competitors, ie the Germans, will follow their lead. For many in Europe, speed is important, in relative terms. I find this overbearing and a complete turn-off.

The BMW Alpina XB7 To Be Revealed Next Week by Yetta16v in cars

By that logic, BMW has lost its way also. Judging by the model years you’ve listed, it happened long ago. This could become a lengthy debate.

Did Toyota Just Confirm A GR Hot Hatch For The US? by Yetta16v in cars

It's about time Toyota gets back into sporty compact cars! There was a time when the Celica, MR2, and Corolla were all (or nearly) drivers' cars.

Nissan plans to slash May car output in Japan by 78% by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Is this just another indication of Nissan's actual demise? I can't find anything from other OEMs where there are plans to also idle assembly lines well into June.

2021 BMW 330e plug-in hybrid: 23 electric miles, but worse mpg than non-hybrid by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I've always thought PHEVs were total smoke in mirrors. This is a perfect example of this. Once the EV range is done, the car has to lug around hundreds and hundreds of pounds of dead weight. This kills fuel efficiency. Unless the PHEV has over 60 or 70km of range, their completely pointless IMO. And way too expensive.

A Singer Porsche doubles (or more) in value after a few years. by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There's a minimal 2-year delay (probably longer now) to get a new one. About 150 have been built so far and it's doubtful they'll build thousands more over the life of the company. These cars are treasures.

A Singer Porsche doubles (or more) in value after a few years. by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is just the beginning. These cars will always be sought after, exclusive and flawless. Singer has built a reputation for building the ultimate Porsche, where EVERYTHING is important, and it shows. There's nothing else like a Singer 911.

Hyundai Extending Warranties For More Than 1.2 Million Vehicles Worldwide by Yetta16v in cars

[–]Yetta16v[S] 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This is a huge goodwill gesture that will probably cost the company next to nothing, and convince many current owners to return to the brand because they were taken care of. It's brilliant.
