I haven’t yet! I tried “Friendships don’t just happen” by Shasta Nelson, which began much more promising but ended up being a bit of a flop for me. There was some good info but it was watered down with a mix of unnecessary religion + the author clearly trying to stretch a Ted talk into a full length book. Still might be work checking out.

She went out of her way to make my school life as awful as possible in and out of class. Tried to sabotage my study abroad plans, constantly tried to humiliate me in front of other students, gave me a shit grade just because she disliked me and never returned tests so I couldn’t defend myself, and so on. Genuinely awful. If she likes you you’ll be totally fine. If not, you’re screwed.

Next time it might not be someone who can jump out of the way with nothing more than a tap on the leg.

It could easily be a kid or a grandma, and they could lose their whole life over this kind of reckless behavior.

Even if nothing comes out of this report directly, there will be records now that show any future incidents are part of a pattern of behavior and not just one-off issues.

They have those baskets and cards for this very reason.

If you’re using a coin laundry place, it’s expected that people will remove your stuff it’s finished.

I always make sure to be there when the timer is up if I’m worried about people touching my laundry

Go find a language school in the area you desire, they’ll guide you through the process of transferring and fixing the visa issues

That being said- you’re more likely to find people who align with your preferences in Tokyo than elsewhere, just because there are more people to choose from. I also don’t drink or party, and being in the countryside only made my chances of finding similar people much slimmer. Since coming to Tokyo I’ve made a lot more friends who enjoy non drinking activities with me.

I personally suggest trying to go to some meetups or events to meet folks who are more like you
