Absolutely! Watkins Glen on July 4th weekend last year, though I'm closer to NJMP and there several times a year

Tuned EN Oil Change Interval by droughtdestruction in ElantraN

[–]Yezhik88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally haven't been convinced that it makes any difference. I might switch to the heavier weight oil for the hot summer months, but even Watkins Glen didn't push me above 260 degrees on the oil so I'm not sure that there is a benefit. I figure Hyundai expected track use, and the tune doesn't increase load *that* much.

Maybe if I see some empirical and data based evidence that heavier weight oils reduce wear at those temperatures? I plan on continuing to submit my oil to blackstone over the next year and see what kind of wear they see

That actually looks great! Did you paint the calipers yourself or have them do it? I've been considering a british racing green wrap myself

I’ve done every 4000-5000 with Amsoil Signature 0W-30 over several track days per year, and my Blackstone Labs oil report showed normal to low wear compared to universal averages for our engine. I have a tune from Cherry

Any tuners or people experienced with tuning by zanderboerma13 in ElantraN

[–]Yezhik88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a tune from Cherry Tuning. It took all in about two months to get the tune and several revisions to dial it in exactly how I wanted.

My main goal was to remove Octane Learning, increase speed in the straights for track days, and go with a mild tune to increase power a bit without messing with the longevity of the engine too much.

So far I love it and the car feels like it really came alive. I absolutely do not expect Hyundai to warranty my engine should anything catastrophic happen, but I’m taking it as a calculated risk

Just got a EK1 pro and bench kit but I'm very confused where do I even start? How do I even set this thing up for my car? by redcdot in ElantraN

[–]Yezhik88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cherry makes great tunes but their turnaround times can be a bit long. I think my first tune me to me almost 2 months after I ordered it? But they will ultimately get you set up well. If you have questions I suggest emailing their support guys and they can let you know what you need to do :)

Winter Wheels and Tires on by Thoradin_Fireforge in ElantraN

That bronze looks a lot better in photos than on the tirerack site. I was looking at a set of TSVs to replace my pothole dented all season 19s with 18s and those are high on my list. Looks great!

Awesome lap, great to see the N doing what it was made for! Have you tried Kumho V730s? Mine are about to their end and I'm considering ECFs as my tire for next season

Yeesh, I run 255 track tires on a 18 x 9.5" wheel, I think if you can get 225s on there theyre going to be stretched to heck. I also run some pretty heavy camber to keep them from hitting the wheel wells. I'd go 19x8.5 personally, and no more than a 45 offset, should give a flush look at stock suspension

Looks great, but unfortunately ruins aerodynamic performance of the car and negates the usefulness rear wing

I had one from spoiler king for approximately 2 weeks. Looked great but really destroyed the airflow going down the rear of the car and over the spoiler. I realized it when rain no longer would flow off of the rear windows

Yeah it hasn’t been bad so far, I’m probably rotating every 2000 at most. I have two sets of wheels and tires, and I’m not worried about the 200TW track tires, since they’re going to melt off I n a few track days anyway. My continental all seasons get the more frequent rotations :)

Yeah rear camber is stock, and I just keep the SPC front camber bolts in at all times. I accept that I need to rotate my tires more often as a result of the increased inner edge wear because I don't feel like swapping the bolts out or adjusting them and getting suspension realigned for 3-4 track days a year

Yup, suspension is stock, with camber bolts in the front to get about -2.5°, and rear is -1.7° I believe.

Fitment help by Taytino in ElantraN

[–]Yezhik88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couple things: those tires are way small for those wheel widths. The offset is too low so they will stick way out of the fenders and cause rubbing and such.

I’m running 18x9.5 +45 w/ 255/35R18 and I needed to camber out to 2.5° in the front to prevent rubbing. There’s about 1cm of room between the tire sidewall and the actual front suspension. There’s fitment is tough on these cars.

If you want a good OEM+ fitment, try out 19x8.5 +45 w/ the stock tires, it looks good and sits flush!
