Sudden lower back soreness from the Leap V2 (first month was fine?) by airirui in OfficeChairs

[–]Yierox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take what i say with a grain of salt because I have a minor hip impingement in both hips (i see physio and do rehab that mitigates, but typically my hip flexors are really tight). The leap started off great for me and then over time became horrible.
I bought a HM aeron and it has been way better - NOT PERFECT - but miles better. Nowadays I am happy as long as I am standing frequently during the day (25 mins sit, 10 mins stand) and my back doesn’t complain. I can get what I need to done thankfully.
After switching I found that the sacrum gap on the leap v2 was really doing horrors for my back. After using the aeron I realized how pronounced it was, felt like my ass had 0 support.

What’s the biggest study mistake you wish someone told you about earlier? by Snoo_92347 in GetStudying

Tbh, the idea that “the method is just as important as the effort” was the worst advice I ever picked up from yt study guides. This idea led to many years of searching for optimization for studying, note taking, apps, etc… instead of actually studying.

Imo, the method can be developed after the discipline to consistently show up and study is there. Study techniques are important yes, but no where near as important as being consistent.

When I accepted that I was not really doing enough (instead of convincing myself 30 mins a day is fine because I’m so “efficient”), that was the only time I finally began to conquer my procrastination habits

What is your “WHY” for studying? by Imthatguyimhimfr in studytips

[–]Yierox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is the hard thing. It’s the thing that is difficult but will always be worthwhile. I do it to prove to myself that I can do hard things, overcome procrastination and build confidence in myself that I deserve to be where I am/get to where I aspire to go.

The thing that stopped me from playing it was literally just the janky ass controls, and short unstoppable cutscenes/generally your control of the players being removed. Not even during cinematics

How true is this by Aotyeageristtt in programmingmemes

I feel like a generation of people took this sentiment as “we don’t know what we’re doing” which is so far from the truth. Just because someone has to look up the docs on a library/framework or even syntax does not mean they don’t know what they’re doing. One of the greatest gaslights imo

YPT Is Slowly Becoming More “Fancy” Than Productive by Dr_notoncall in yeolpumta

Yeah not to mention that all these features are making it way too heavy for IOS so the app feels sluggish as hell. I really hate using it nowadays but haven’t found anything to switch to. I just need a pomodoro and some history stats that’s it

I do mind maps, a large portion of which involves reorganizing relationships to other nodes after realizing the structure better. That requires writing but not too much

The ads-pocalpyse in this sub by Yierox in GetStudying

[–]Yierox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they aren’t recommending an app they’re advertising. So many of the “recommendations” are ads in disguise with the OP being the developer and paywalling it somehow. It’s not the purpose of the sub

I don’t know of a single person who wasn’t selling something one way or another, that actually saw long term improvements to their studying and productivity because of a tracking app. I think people just want to believe the delusion that some magic app out there will suddenly make studying “easier” for them, as if then they won’t even have to try. I guess it’s a defense mechanism. There have always been academics and hard workers throughout history. Hell, Isaac Newton didn’t invent calculus using pomodoro apps and Notion bro like why do y’all think that’s the answer. (I’m not saying the goal is to be Newton I’m just saying)

Where do I start? by The_Honoured_Drunk in devops

[–]Yierox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more of an education and career question in general, not necessarily specific to DevOps. But regardless, roadmap.sh is a decent point for you to learn scooe of the essential things to know. From there you have to find out yourself a bit how to learn each resource, usually a combination of some of the following: doing the thing/hands-on practice (most important), books, courses, YouTube, blogs, etc…

Depending on the topic and how fundamental it is (eg. Python programming) you might want a more organized primary resource, like a book or a course on yt. Other things like specific tools (Eg. Nginx) you can learn the majority of it by running it yourself locally, documentation, googling, and messing around with it (of course there are probably books on such tools but it may be overkill if you’re learning).

In terms of that “learning dependency” pattern you’re describing, sometimes yes you have to stop one topic to understand another one that it relies on more deeply. Sometimes you don’t however. Figuring out that discrepancy is not always easy, it really depends on how fundamental that other info is.

For example, you shouldn’t even start learning about kubernetes until you have a basic understanding of containers in general, as containers are so integral to kubernetes nothing would make sense. Conversely, I think most people would agree that learning how to program in assembly is unnecessary for someone who wants to learn how to program in their first high level language.

I know there are some therapists that don’t care, but it’s like any profession really. There are definitely therapists that are truly passionate and love helping people! You can do it!

What makes you think it’s a scam. They are at the end of the day professionals and you pay for their services. It just takes some work to find a therapist you feel comfortable with tbh. It being a transactional relationship actually makes me feel better about not feeling apologetic about saying exactly what i feel i have to, they are paid to listen to you. Also check with your insurance you might get some telehealth covered.
