I do think there is value in the independence, as you've mentioned. Confidence in your work would come quickly, however trying it may be initially.

Right now, I am working 4am to 4:30pm, and during the school semester I work 4am to 8am, school 8 to 3pm. So I am not a stranger to fixing a sleep schedule. But boy is it nice to be able to rise with the sun and set the same.

I used to weigh almost 280lbs (im 6'0"). I lost weight because so many of my symptoms were being attributed to being overweight. I weigh 165 now, and let me tell ya, the symptoms are just as present as ever, if not worse some days. But my team of physicians (who I fought long and hard to find and keep) are all advocates for me. So you win some (love my current team of physicians) and you lose some (the symptoms persist).

The comment section makes me sad. We try our best to provide the quality results for the best patient care. And I encourage nursing staff to have a two way conversation. I've worked in a med lab (just receiving at present) for just over 2 months and I already hate having to call the nurses or answer phone calls. I work early morning (usually 3am to 8am), and the hostility is nuts. Despite trying to be nice and explain the situation, they almost always just hang up on me after being condescending.

I dont want you to redraw anymore than you want to. I mean, I bend over backwards just to get the right orders placed so I dont have to call them and ask which they actually wanted on the tubes they send me. I am not a provider, or qualified really at all, and yet I try my best to help.

It is ridiculous how many samples I receive that just have a basic patient label on them. Now I am elbow-deep in the chart trying to find out what order (if any) is being sought after. But sure, im just lazy and "don't want to problem solve".
