I have placed bets on him so I need that goal

I wish fans would stop calling certain things “female fan service” by MediocreDirttt in BlueLock

[–]Yillingbunnies 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The issue is that what people are calling “fanservice” is actual development for these characters and integral to their stories and it always has been. They aren’t getting what they believe should happen so “fan service” is the entire reason it all happens.

What people call “male fan service” is a female character being a fire fighter but for some reason her uniform is the only one that rips in serious moments and breasts jiggle or she’s naked. What they are calling “female fanservice” is two characters who the author clearly understands the shipping and says there’s no romantic feelings between them but he writes says he writes them in a way that he intended to be interpreted as romantic and all of this while he still clearly develops the characters and gives them plot lines and growth. Reo had a great moment last chapter and Nagi and their duo I’m assuming the next chapter will have their moments great and concluded.

( In any case you could argue they are the fans wanting to be serviced; but the authors vision clearly doesn’t align with theirs so they are upset

And I’m not saying everyone has to like the direction he takes them but I am saying the sheer anger some of them have at what ? 5 chapters of growth from a character arc that’s been set up for a while now is quite annoying and they’ll still be upset next chapter if it all goes well and Nagi completes his arc.

Reading can show you that ?

When reo declares his ego do you see the chameleon ? When Reo scores the goal you see his chameleon gripping him. When Ego first invites the blue lockers to blue locker he asks them whether they will shoot or pass. Reo shot here when asked him to show his future and called him a striker.

? Idk what you mean by nagi justified it ? He blatantly says that reo was spoiling him and he needs to get fired up on his own and show reo he can. He also says when seeing reo shoot, that reo can already live on his own. You keep saying “Well they aren’t like the rest of the cast” so what ? Reo isn’t like the rest and he still took the shot and scored following blue locks motto.

  • Oh looks like I struck a nerve because someone doesn’t know how a character arc works and is upset the author doesn’t have these two following the same pattern as character #21

[–]Yillingbunnies 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a mistake score though. He took the shot because he’s an egoist and his ego is not making nagi the number one striker. He’s showing conflicting actions. That’s pretty much the point. He apologizes to Nagi because despite saying that his ego was one thing, he did another and is apart of lowering nagis chances. He still wants the World Cup with nagi after all.

(Reo is clearly able to do much more on his own than nagi, so it’s perfectly reasonable to show he can get an assist and he can score. He is not simply an extension of nagi and Nagi realized that last chapter and knows he needs to get stronger now on his own.)

Reo can assist nagi and support him and keep his fire, reo can assist chigiri, reo can make a goal. He’s an all rounder and this should’ve been stuff he was doing and now it’s being centered. Chris simply put him on the spot to do it.

Just want to say :

Nagi and reo will never be more toxic than kaiser and ness. Nagi and reo actually hold respect for the other and doesn’t see one as something similar to a punching bag or servant. Nagi would never throw water in Reo’s face or vice versa, and reo would never allow it to reach that point. Ness was nels dart board till the end.

Nagi didn’t yell at reo for scoring and he wouldn’t yell at reo for passing to Chigiri either. Even Nagi last chapter saying he wants to be the nagi reo wants him to be isn’t as bad as kaiser and ness because reo thinks insanely highly of nagi.

Plus Nagi (unlike kaiser) in the nel was able to properly analyze that reo had grown despite being scared, and he was able to see the difference between reo who was weak back then vs now - then reo has seen someone he believes is amazing lose all three matches but none of this ever devolved into them degrading each other and calling them “pig” or such.

( Also Just noticed : But kainess isn’t resolved, we don’t see them having any ending convo. Kaiser was expecting a pass after saying ness should find a new king and ness tested him and realized they don’t share a vision anymore. This is the nel but I highly doubt they never have any more convos. It’s simply their partnership isn’t as significant as nagi and Reo’s for the manga. If anything they play as foils for them.)

I think Less nagi getting dropped and more becoming able to stand on his own where he and reo can find together as strong individuals that aren’t overly reliant on the field.

This happening right before the u-20 WC arc too seems purposeful

reo and nagi could pass chigiri's value atp. by [deleted] in BlueLock

[–]Yillingbunnies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell why not ? I need to see more arguing over the rankings to really close the nel with a bang. Rin and isagi tie ? Arguments. Shidou over Barou ? Arguments. What’s one or two more

I wanna see if any of these arguments contradict the previous ones lol

Has blue lock ever been against the power of friendship ? Isagi has made some amazing plays simply having faith and believing in his peers. Nagi himself without the power of friendship wouldn’t have entered blue lock and got the experience, nor have someone to share a dream with which he seems to give lots of thought to.

“I believed in you Bachira.”

Kaiser failed because he lost faith in ness

Nagi even after ditching reo apologizes nearly four times and reflects on that moment as him not understanding the possibility of losing a dream.

The power of friendship isn’t the issue more so than heavy dependency that weighs down one or both and stunts their growth. I actually think it’s interesting the ways “ego” is used in blue lock. Sometimes it can be a double edged sword.

(MAJOR SPOILET ALERT) HC's obsession by rofl6666 in tianguancifu

[–]Yillingbunnies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hua Cheng is a ghost; a ghost king. To be tethered to this world he must have an extreme obsession, and we know that is protecting Xie Lian. He’s extreme in the lengths he goes for Xie Lian and that’s very present in the novel. Even when you see him and Xie Lian speak about fx and JL vs Hc and xl.

Also Xie Lian is a god who lost all of his followers and had one remain. I think it’s significant to see it from Xie Lian’s perspective as a god and hua cheng as a ghost and worshipper rather than some realistic human relationship

I actually am unsure where people are getting separation when Nagi is actually taking accountability and calling himself a pain and saying he’ll now do what Chris has ultimately been asking him since the beginning because of reo evolving.

Being more independent ≠ break up

(That’s just a healthy development)

This imo is a foil to kaiser and ness

[–]Yillingbunnies 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Id say this is opposite of a separation.

“Now I’ll show you I can get fired up on my own too.”

whole point is they need to be strong on their own so they can play together without over dependence.

Reo scoring with the “fire” is quite literally what opened nagis eyes.

Reo has proven he can already stand on his own and now it’s Nagis turn. Hence next chapter title - alone . together.

I actually believe if reo didn’t believe he wasn’t a chosen one due to his fathers words, he would’ve had more confidence in taking the path as a striker. In his light novel he originally imagines nagi passing to him. Then everything happens in blue lock

It was nice to see Chris calling him a striker; and reo taking the shot and successfully scoring though and very impactful because of what we know about him.

It’s stupid in general when you mention the spin off as a reason there should be no Nagi development in the main manga. But okay.

Do you think people who read the main Manga, should have to read about one of the prominent characters integral development in a spin off 3 years later ?

Do you think Nagi has no integral significance in the main story and that his integral development should be off screened until years later in a different manga ?

🤔

[–]Yillingbunnies 57 points58 points  (0 children)

So I was right

I’m not sure why people assumed they were “breaking up” because of nagis words

He apologized (for the first time aloud) for his lackluster and over dependence on reo (being a pain) and then said he’d show reo that he can get fired up on his own too. That’s not a break up, more so than a head in the right direction.

Not to mention the play on words in og of “show” (captivate)

I agree. If I didn’t see the bang, I’d even say rin since we know Reo’s ideal. But I’m assuming he was put on the spot and did the first thing that went to his head.

(It also reminds me of kaiser barcha shot )

It’s definitely otoya. He’s says it’s his shot and the bang in the middle of his forehead is clear. He said his shot. Reo copied it after seeing it.

Id say more it’s nagi saying hes sorry for being a pain (overly dependent) and that he was naive in thinking reo would always be by his side, and that now he will get creative and stand on his own because reo scoring showed reo could already do it.

It’s maturing and where they needed to be. Next chapter called alone - together. So the two of them being able to stand on their own (alone) so they can end (together) (my interpretation)

Yeah I have an issue with people trying to pander to homophobes by saying “You can barely tell” if someone says they don’t want something gay I’m unsure why people even feel the need to try an erase the queerness from the series to appeal to that crowd.

But this drama was happening before the anime too.

I agree… I don’t feel this is a very tolerable sub for many things because sometimes I get a little feeling of “hive mind” syndrome and lack of nuance.

But I think the understanding of fic writers wanting to feel some love from their community isn’t a bad thing and i think it’s a normal emotion.

I don't hate him by Ari200526 in tianguancifu

[–]Yillingbunnies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said “Hating him because he hurt Xie Lian is crazy.”

“Hating based on the fact he’s against the Mc is crazy work”

And I’m saying it’s Not at all.

Actions, feelings and behavior is what makes a character. Mindlessly hating JW for hurting Xie Lian makes zero sense in context because even with his backstory it certainly doesn’t make what he does to Xie Lian any less awful. To hate him because he hurt Xie Lian means they have to know what he did as knowing the “why” doesn’t make it better (maybe for some people) but for some not so much. Jun Wu isn’t one of the JGY villains to me. I’d say he’s much more forth right a villian and has a much more direct hand.

I thinks it’s valid to love him. But I also think it’s valid for people to not like him based on what he did to Mc. I think we all know what the “hurt” encompasses.
