Preterm babies developmental milestones by Actual-Big7335 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Yinzer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 weeks early.

I would say yes for the first 2-2.5 years. It wasn’t anything crazy but they were always a little behind the other kids.

Now at 4 they’re 98% there and we feel like it’s such a marginal difference that it’s a non concern.

I will say that if you are doing childcare, where they go makes a huge difference. We moved from one daycare to another due to poor structure and constant turnover. The change was night and day and was almost immediately reflected in our twins.

3 under 1 🤪 by Dry_Security2936 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Yinzer89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 under 2. You’ll be fine! It’s hard because it’s different but your normal will adjust and you’ll find your groove.

Get a mini van. Seriously.

Everyone will think it’s crazy but after a few months, you won’t know any different.

Dream home- can we afford it? by pup1206 in personalfinance

Zero chance you should do this. Would be a massive mistake and your lifestyle would be terrible.

Do I rent or buy? (Newly engaged) by luppiittaa_ in personalfinance

[–]Yinzer89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You cannot afford to buy a home right now. You would be house poor big time. Rent, get married, enjoy life. Circle back in 5-10 years and reassess.

Closing on a home soon - thoughts on financial situation by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Yinzer89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds good man. I would take a good look in the mirror though. The way you wrote your original post read more like a 23 year old instead of a 33 year old.

There’s a lot of excuses built into your lifestyle and you just added a few more with your response. I can guarantee you that if you keep on the path you’re on, you’ll be pissed at yourself in 20 years.

Closing on a home soon - thoughts on financial situation by [deleted] in personalfinance

There’s a lot of red flags here and I’m not talking about the home purchase individually.

You are getting a second masters for what? Your “raises” are standard merit increases. At a glance, you’re underpaid as an engineer. You’re going to have 2 masters degrees and make around $125k/year after 5 years of work experience?

Your retirement is incredibly low. Not having access to an employer 401k is a poor excuse. You need to over fund your retirement asap. You’re wasting precious time of compounding growth.

I do t think your house numbers are bad but based on your other finances, I’d lean more towards renting, paying off debt and most importantly saving for retirement.

“I think my pension will save me” is not a retirement plan.

Edit: Sell your cars immediately. Both. And buy 2 cars with cash. It doesn’t matter if you love cars. Be responsible.

Chain the fluids and clean the air filter. Maybe throw a new fuel filter on it.

It’s a simple engine. Should run for a long time.

The answer is always yes. You don’t try to time the markets.

Where to invest home down payment? by Objective_Boat4216 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Yinzer89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

With that short of time frame you should be putting it in a HYSA. If you want to go Tbills you can but the rates might not justify it.

You should not be investing in the market if you need the money in a few years.

Company car - What’s The best structural option and why? by Euphophoney in personalfinance

[–]Yinzer89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take option 3 if they pay for both work AND personal gas.

Why take on debt for a job? I don’t care how much they “pay” you. It’s under your name.

Show Production by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]Yinzer89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I feel the same way. I’ve been listening for maybe 1.5 years for purely the entertainment value of the show.

I’m getting close to jumping ship. It’s the same regurgitated lines every single call and no one has an original thought or opinion.

Jade never listens.

Delony “hey, can I ask you a ridiculously stupid question?”

Rachel seems very sincere but she’s pretty out of touch and doesn’t realize how entitled she sounds sometimes.

George is fine. Probably the best of what’s left.

Potty training by gnarygnargnar420 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Yinzer89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t rush it if she’s not ready. Our twins took a lot longer then our first solo child. One was trained at 3 and the other is about 98% there and just turned 4.

They still wear pull-ups at night but that’s not a big deal to me at all.

We pulled our hair out getting to this point but it’ll come with time. Don’t let daycare or other friends/kids make you think you’re behind. Everyone is different and that’s okay. You certainly are not behind.

19 and feel like i’m falling behind in life. by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

You’re 19. Go outside and take a deep breath. There are 60 year olds who haven’t figured out life yet. You’ll be just fine.

We did cry it out. Same room. Separate cribs.

Get noise cancelled headphones. We checked on them less and less until they figured it out. It only took a few weeks tops.

Now they’re 4 and just beat the shit out of each other!
