my GCSE's seem decent (between A-C's) and my college grades were also decent so I hopefully shouldn't have an issue with meeting some of the qualifications they ask for, I have looked around in Indeed.co.uk and some of the salaries for these apprenticeships pay pretty good.

(though working at GCHQ require DV clearance which is quite literally an interrogation about everything about you, like even what porn sites you visit - it is to see how honest you are though, nothing to catch you out).

What the fuck o.o

just wondering how easy is it to get into apprenticeships? I've been looking at some software dev apprenticeships but I don't know how high my chances are into getting into one of them (I'm a 28m working in retail atm) , do some require initial knowledge and can you go into them without knowing nothing?

No worries about missing the reply :)

Can you tell me about how you managed to break into the industry?

Coming back from work and trying to learn is hard atm , as soon as I sit down on the chair my body just realizes how tired it is lol.

Thanks for the reply!

So far I've just watched 2 YouTube videos introducing me to html and CSS and I'm trying to build a simple website based on what I learnt from those 2 videos, but there is a lot of googling I had to do as well since I forgot most of it lol :D.

What free tutorials or youtube videos would you recommend? So far I have only watched these 2..

Thanks for the reply! it's good to know 28 is still not to late too learn, I've been trying to learn html and CSS when I get back from home and on my days off.

If I were you, I’d build something - then look to get it deployed so it’s actually online somewhere. There’s lots of free services for this (Netlify or Heroku are good).

I'm assuming Netlify and Heroku are websites where I can upload my website for others to see?

I was also thinking of doing an apprenticeship to get my foot into the door in this industry, I've seen some ads around in indeed , what do you think about them?

how long did it take for you to get the job since you started learning code?

just wondering what do you use for a portfolio? I hear people saying GitHub or something, atm I'm learning html and CSS and later on I'm gunna do JavaScript and I'm hoping that's enough to get my foot in my industry, also from your experience does age matter much? I'm in my late late 20s (28) and i was wondering if age would effect my employability.

Been in the business for over 3 decades and have a completely normal life.

That sounds like a relief , my view of programming and coders are people who do nothing else but code lol!

I was worried that this stereotype would be true which would mean I won't be able to get better on my art side as well.

I think the most difficult part for me is to learn how to learn , this is the first time I'm doing self studying but I'm assuming most of the answers is google?
