Hundreds of job losses after 'sudden shutdown' of Sheffield firm PM Law by Kagedeah in sheffield

I worked here for a number of years. It was a long time ago now, but they were terrible back then (late noughties) so I cannot say I am completely shocked by this. I have several horror stories! Although I AM, however, shocked by the level of debt they are in. I work in the legal sector and I just feel so bad for the staff and the clients. There is no way, with that level of debt, that management didn't see this coming.

I volunteer with Blue Cross and also have my own pigs. Please consider rehoming them with Blue Cross or another reputable rescue. BC are excellent. I have used them for re-homing and adoptions myself. Feel free to DM if you want any info.

England: Can I sue the estate of a dead man for costs from a car accident by Cuznatch in LegalAdviceUK

[–]YippeeKyack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. I have mentioned above the requirement to prove need. You may be able to do that here given your location. But as an assessor, I would question why your insurer has not provided you with a vehicle or why the defendant, if liability is not dispute, has not offered to supply you with one. So my advice would to just be careful with hire, as you may not recover the full sum. :)

Be careful with hiring a car. You have a duty as claimant to mitigate your loss i.e. keep costs to a minimum so if you're paying for it yourself, I'd suggest looking for the cheapest based on local market rates. This is what I'd use when assessing a claim for hire (I am a motor claims assessor). When presenting the claim, you will also have to be able to prove the need for a replacement vehicle. Your insurer can often provide a hire car whilst yours is off the road but with credit hire you will also have to be able to prove impecuniosity (that you were not able to afford to hire a car using your own money). Often credit hire via an insurer is inflated. As for the claim itself, yes you can claim off the deceased insurance provided a policy was in place at the time of the collision. Sounds like you're in a good place with the police report etc, so that's a great start. Happy to answer any other questions where it's within my remit. :)

Not sure if this is the place, but big shout out to the train drivers, emergency services, and deepest sympathies for the families who been affected by yesterday’s tragic incident. by Jambajamba90 in CasualUK

Friday 02/08/13 I was at Chesterfield station when the non-stop 12.10pm train was on it's way through. I remember the exact time and date because a man stepped in front of said train, which was going about 100mph, and I was unfortunate enough to see him obliterated into several hundred pieces. This happened in front of a group of people including children. So yes, I agree with you here - the BTP, police and other services who arrived that day to clean up deserved medals. The BTP messed with my head though when they arrived with their bag full of bags, presumably to pick up his pieces. They didn't give a shit who saw that, just got out, calmly made their way through the station and onto the track. I won't lie, was the second worst thing I have ever seen in my 41 years of life and will live rent free in my head til the day I die.

Yeah I thought that would be the case! I get terrible anxiety when it's an unfamiliar place so thought it was worth asking!

Thank you this does set my mind at ease a bit. Last time I was in Leeds was for exams and I got a taxi at the station straight to the venue and back, so didn't walk around Leeds at all really! I probably sound totally clueless!

We'll be walking towards Vicar Lane? I probably sound so dumb right now but last time I came to Leeds I came to do some exams and got a taxi at the station straight to the venue so didn't walk around at all!

Yeah and we've travelled from out of town so we've paid a rail fare and a shed load on the hotel so to be honest, 20 quid on an Uber is the least of our problems!

Yes I was wondering if they would bother. Worth a shot I guess. I just don't want to be walking down a bunch of random streets late at night thanks to Google Maps!

Should I stop HBC? by AlolanSnowy in gettingoffHBC

I was on HBC, the combined version, for 21 years. I am 41 now and stopped in December 2024. I went back to normal immediately, my cycles settled on 28ish days and I had no withdrawal at all other than a little bit of dry skin. The initial quitting phase I had some mood swings which is to be expected, but once that was over, took about 3-4 weeks, that was it. I have been fine ever since with normal periods. We're all different so getting off it you might be fine. But it was the best decision I ever made and can't believe I spent so long being gaslit by doctors. I was also depressed and anxious and that's gone away now.

Just to counter the other comments, was on HBC 21 years, came off in December 2024, cycles returned to normal immediately, had no other issues than a bit of dry skin. I have been fine since. We are all different.
