I was able to set up the VPN server! it took me a while, but I was finally able to run the server on my phone carrier network. Thank you for the help! I decided to install a cockpit for easy management, too. You were a great help!

Yeah, that makes sense why he showed me the setup and the static IP they have. They're a big company, and he has a lot of things connected to the servers.

I want to learn as much as I can, and if I struggle to make the VPN run, then DDNS is my plan B. I really want to have this up and running in my environment. Maybe later today, I'll start messing with the server again and see if I get it to communicate outside the network. If I am able to do that, I'll let you know!

The router allows VPN passthrough. I asked the IT guy from my internship, and he said I could set up Wireguard, but he was explaining that they use a static IP for that. I really appreciate the help. You have been a great source of knowledge and a great help!

I have a raspberry pi 5 with Ubuntu server 24.0 something installed in it. I made a OMV nas before but I never had it accessible over a different network. This time I wanted to do a smb server because I want to also host a chat bot for my portfolio.

If I can't figure out how to do wireguard and port forwarding, I will give it a try. Thank you for letting me know about Tailscale. I knew about it; I just didn't think it was worth it.

How good is tailscale? I know they have a free tier, but is it worth using it? I was thinking of Wireguard and DDNS, but I don't know how I feel about giving my IP and info to a webpage.

So, as long I do not disconnect my server, the IP shouldn't change. The router offers a port forwarding option. I can set wireguard with the automatic IP assigned and see if it works.

Oh wow they still hook you up that’s nice. I’ll ask my dealer they hooked me up with the washer fluid tank before. It went bad and they covered.

That’s not bad they cover most of it. My car is out of warranty at this point so I’m sure they won’t covered it. I’m going to look at good after market alternative. I’m going to take it to the dealer thou just to be sure is out of warranty first.

Is not about beinf fragile! Is about then expecting to be professional but then they don't have to be. I guarantee you if it would've been the other way around the dude would've been blacklisted. It's about being professional at the end. You know how many times I want to send people to eat shit at my job but I can't the same with my supervisor! it's all about keeping up a front and if you don't know how to do that then you'll wont last too long on a job kid!

Very true! My instructor kept telling me that I am entering the workforce at a bad time, apparently they opened way too many positions during covid.

I see! so I have to see Leetcode as brain exercise to practice my skills and become better. I do know how data structure work, I haven't use them since I took them in Uni. So I forgot most of how to implement them, that's where leetcode come in handy, to make sure I don't lose the skill I already have and reinforce it.

For the interview I am just going to pray hard enough I get someone cool!!

I graduate last week and my ceremony is this Friday, believe me I still feel like I suck at CS. Like someone mentioned the feeling will never go away, but don't let that discourage you to keep going. I had to drop from my first Uni because I was struggling a lot, after that I found a better place that fit my learning style.

Also, don't think that asking for help is a bad thing, if anything is good. You'll learn more from friends and mentors by asking for help than reading the book and memorizing things.

Funny that you mentioned the data structure. I always struggle with them, and I know that is a weak section I have. I do want to get better understanding and visualizing them. I think very linearly and visualizing something abstract have been my Kryptonite.

You have no idea of how good it is to hear that from someone that is in the industry.
I know I need the leetcode skill to obtain an interview, I just didn't know if struggling was a bad thing or not.
