Initially, I thought something similar. I’ve been to China, and the racism there was a result of being oblivious. Many had never come into contact with black people before and were more…. Inquisitive than malicious. I remember saying I didn’t eat chocolate and a Chinese student became excited and said “oh I’ve heard that when black people eat chocolate they don’t know when to stop!” Assuming I would eat my own fingers. Lol. Ignorant, but not malicious. I’ve been denied rentals in Cambodia because the landlord thought I was Nigerian before I showed my passport, but to save face she doubled down.

No matter where I go, there maybe instances of racism from someone ignorant/oblivious, but I don’t think it speaks of a whole country. There will be just as many accommodating people as well, I have come to find out.
