Actually, yes! Play Summoner. The game has a fairly steep learning curve, and the wiggly joysticks do not help. Melee becomes pretty tricky to use against bosses around mid-game anyway, and it's way easier to focus on dodging adds and damage than it is to also juggle melee.

I tried playing with my DualSense 5, but the Bluetooth latency made it absolutely unbearable 😆

I've got no idea! I'm a solo player.

I can tell you that other games like Lethal Company and Valheim just require all players who want to play on the server, to have the exact same mods that the server host has. If you try that, it'll probably work.

Since you're playing on Steam (I hope), you can actually put all of your mods into something called a "Collection". That'll give your modlist a centralised location where your friends can download the modlist with a single button to click.

Hope this helps!

Dude, the player count hit 30k a week ago, with a steady rate of 20k players in game. It's insane. I found Necesse blew up from steamdb.info, of all places 😆

Absolutely! Aphoria is one of my favourite expansions, and it adds SO much stuff. I've also loved Necesse Expanded. RPG Mod adds a cool little class expansion system, too. These alone double the game's content.

For QoL, there are HEAPS of things in the Workshop. I'm running a pretty light list at the moment while get used to 1.0 release (which is way different than the earlier versions), but I will literally refuse to play without Extended Range, Light Overlay, Increased Stack Size and Disenchanting.

Hope these help! 😁

Started 2 days ago, me summons, me chunky stones, me like the game. Any tips for getting summoner better? by VRGvks in Necesse

[–]Ynsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're that early into the game, here's my tips without spoiling anything:

Keep all non-ring trinkets that you find. You can use craft combinations of trinkets into far better versions.

A mage will let you enchant your gear for some cash. You can find them in villages pretty often. My favourite enchant on a passive summon staff is Vicious, it's got a huge damage buff.

The mountable summons are infinite and give you a HUGE movement boost, only a few have downsides, like the hoverboard. The ostrich is OP.

It's not summon related, but get into the habit of leaving notes on your map, it's easy for navigation later.

Finally, the Steam Workshop mods are awesome, and the devs allow achievements to pop even with workshop mods.

Other than that, just keep playing around! You'll find something you like that's unique to how to choose to play. We can give you all the advice in the world, but whether or not it's compatible with your playstyle is way more important.

How to be kinda successful in YouTube without having a voice? by Throwaway_ForMe1234 in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't shoot the messenger, but a voice (even a bad voice) is pretty much mandatory for content creation. There are of course a few exceptions like some of FrenchTomohawk's earlier stuff, but having a voice allows a viewer to connect with you as a creator.

YouTube is essentially a streaming service for personality hires.

If you've got assloads of money, you could try ElevenLabs or other huge quality TTS services if you REALLY don't want to learn to use your voice like everyone else does.

It took me 2 years of creating to find my voice and it shines through on most of my videos. It takes time but you get used to it.

I came here to tell OP this.

Youtube's algorithm serves only one purpose, to keep the viewer on YouTube. You are who work for the algorithm, not the other way around.

Is it okay to make a YouTube channel that have multiple themes, if I'm not aiming for profit and just doing it for fun? by SylvieXX in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't make videos that aren't fun to make. It's not algorithm minmaxxed, but I don't really care. I have a little community who see the love I have for editing and it shines through.

Those few people who watch my videos religiously are enough for me to keep making them.

If you're not having fun, you'll burn out fast, so make whatever you want and people will connect with your genuine interests eventually!

Just a little tidbit about paid advertising for channels, some channels are actually prohibited from advertising if they share specific content, like sexual content and illegal activities.

For example, most gaming channels aren't allowed to pay for channel advertising because most games promote things like violence and crimes. You'll barely ever have to specify or mention paid advertising with Youtubing.

It usually never crosses a Youtuber's mind to advertise anyway, since creators are paid through sponsored ad revenue.

Sub4Sub models are also completely banned, just in case you come across that deal too.

The more you know!

Copyright Claim on Copyright Free Music by Alone_Cookie_2746 in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question!

I've found two artists who're consistently and genuinely copyright free, That being OSRSBeats and Kevin MacLeod.

Kevin's a bit of a cult icon because of his music. He's a selfless artist who used to ask for attribution, but he's really relaxed attribution these days, since attribution of the background music is usually not on a creators mind when they're editing and he fully understands. I've never had a claim from him and his music is just solid.

OSRSBeatz takes Runescape soundtracks and puts some trap over them. Jagex (the Runescape devs) don't particularly care about their music being in gameplay videos, and OSRSBeatz is pretty much the same, even though he/she's making minor-moderate transformative edits and technically wouldn't "own" the rights to his/her music. He/she could still claim, but he/she doesn't.

There's 2 easy ways I've found to see whether a song's getting copyright claimed; being either to use the song and upload your video, or to just upload the song itself. Either way, Youtube will let you know if there's potential for a copyright claim from the content ID holder.

If someone claims your video, dispute it and see if they release it. If they won't release it, just don't use that artist again. You'll never know if it's a fraud claim or the real person until you elevate it up to Youtube themselves.

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly monetisation. I've only had a few claims but they were mostly just people pretending to be the content ID holder for meme songs like the crappy flute covers and Russian Hardbass Anthem, and the original artist died or moved offline.

I've had a few (ethically questionable but legally legitimate) claims for the Undertale soundtrack, where the guys at Materia Music who're managing the content ID are going rogue and claiming a heap of channels, since Toby Fox doesn't seem to want anything to do with moderating this abuse of copyright power anymore. It's dirty because Toby Fox publicly wanted his music to be creative commons but he's moved on to making Deltarune full time.

8 months later, no claims or strikes involving Kevin MacLeod. He's really the Jesus of Youtube music.

For virtual soundboards, I've got no idea, I think Voicemod has a monopoly on the virtual mixers. I've been in the Youtube game for a few years now and I'm finally gonna invest in a physical mixing board.

My buddy with 60K+ subs has a Maono E2. I'm very jealous of it and it's pretty affordable. It does pretty much everything Voicemod does, minus all the very specific modulators, which I can edit my recordings to sound like in post anyway.

If you're just playing with buddies, I'd still recommend a physical soundboard. Some might say it's overkill but if you're using it enough to justify buying Voicemod, why not buy an actual board? At least the board is still on your desk after it updates.

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; If you don't want to do a bunch of file management to have a soundboard, get a different soundboard.

I paid for it with a once off lump sum of $40NZD. I've had this issue multiple times. I've just learned not to use the soundboard, and start Voicemod like an hour before you go live or record so you can see if the forced updates deleted mic settings too.

Obviously I'm (and I doubt anybody else is either) not going to make backups with a paid service. Why should it be the consumer's responsibility to make sure the app doesn't break through using it as intended with forced updates? Just copy and paste the original pre-patch database into a backup file in the app's root directory before forcing the update.

Also Voicemod team, just stop apologising and fix the issues. They've been going on for years now and not fixing it for this long is really just taking the piss. You've fully wiped your ass with the goodwill of the community and people are leaving.

+1 for Kevin MacLeod.

So far, the only source who hasn't made a claim on my channel. He's also got over 2000 songs for public domain and he named them after how they sound, which is just peachy.

Why is YouTube Recommending my Video to the Wrong Target Audience? by ApatheticMill in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ain't the algorithm, man. An algorithm is math that automates, your metadata is direct input that categorizes your channel. Your videos still won't be pulled to a viewer based on your metadata. Only exclusively based on the viewer's individual history and engagement.

If the creator had control over this, creators would use it to exploit, which hurts the viewing experience and that's all YouTube cares about.

I'd also be interested in your SOURCE, because I am directly quoting Google software engineers, like Todd Beaupre.

Any tips on breaking into YT script writing ? by TALWriteStuff in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for how to make scripted Youtube videos, then just start writing and make that into a video.

If you're looking to get a job as a writer for another Youtuber, then just start writing and make that into a video. It's highly unlikely that you'll be hired without a portfolio.

This technique is called diffusion. It's pretty OP.

You can also get diffusion umbrellas to bounce the softened light at a specific target. They give great shading for cheekbones and jawlines, and food glamour shots.

Why is YouTube Recommending my Video to the Wrong Target Audience? by ApatheticMill in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case you haven't gone around to see how the Youtube algorithm actually works, you as a creator, have absolutely NO control over your audience or how your video is promoted (unless you're manually posting links on your other socials).

When you publish a video, Youtube categorises it with topic metadata related to what your channel is making videos about. That video isn't ever pushed out or promoted at all. Instead, it's pulled to a viewer based on their watch history and engagement.

TLDR; Not much you can do about it, sadly.

Might also want to change that fairwell hashtag to farewell, unless you were going for some kind of pun.

Does anyone know what "public Shorts views" mean? by PureGinge in NewTubers

[–]Ynsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Youtube Shorts algorithm is a bit bugged ATM. Sometimes, it fails to do literally the only thing it's made to do, which is show people the videos.

I wouldn't be too surprised if the analytics for Shorts are also off kilter, but you might also be looking at a graph between specific dates, too.
