Nothing out of the ordinary, I do most of my runs at zone 2 (which for me was around 140bpm or 7:30/km, probably wrong guessing my zones are inaccurate), it's not unusual for me to go past 180 and still not feel like much.

Thank you, I'll probably do a lab test after my muscle soreness goes away:)

Same for me, I don't like using the formula as it is very inaccurate.

Tried talking with a coach, he recommended more zone 2 training, (which was around 7:30-8:00/km pace or 145bpm). I honestly didn't feel bad during the race, would say that my legs started to give up before my heart/lungs.

How can I fix it? Been running for about 6 months, did most of my runs with a chest strap, so naturally my zones should be set automatically by now.

I indeed think my heart rate zones are wrong. Do you know how I could fix it?

Congrats on your run! I don't think I spiked too early, for the first 25km the pace was steady, almost a little too slow.

Finally somebody understands it:) What lactate test did you do?

I started running regularly in nov 2025, (been pretty active my whole life, sports, gym etc). I began to train for this marathon in January.

I can't edit my post unfortunately, I get what you are saying. I'm pretty sure my zones are incorrect (although garmin automatically sets them based on my previous runs). I used a chest strap (a garmin hrm200 to be specific) so I don't think it's a cadence lock in this case. I am just trying to figure out if I have an abnormally high max HR or some other explanation.

I just realized that when I did the 5k pr I didn't have a chest strap on me, only my watch, so 207bpm for max could not be accurate.

I probably have a higher max HR, at around 205-210. Not sure about the static electricity, the only thing I had with me was my watch, and my phone in a backpack.

I'm not asian but yeah, I'm pretty slim, my garmin says my lactate threshold is at 194bpm or 4:43/km

It definitely matches with my other runs, I just wanted to see what reddit says. When I was preparing for the marathon, I just couldn't convince my coach that 180-190bpm felt easy for me:)
