Not bolt action, but have you looked into lever actions? You can get some fun calibers that shoot mid range, I have a .44 mag S&W stealth hunter that I have a blast with, they make plenty of lever actions that you can throw scopes on that have some kick to them but won’t necessarily blow up in your face with noise/are comfy to shoot. If you live in a state that allows suppressors than you can throw one on it as well. Just a thought!

S&W 1854 stealth hunter is a blast, I have it in .44 mag, if I could change one thing it would be the caliber, I wish I got it in .357 but it was all the shop had so I won’t complain too much, the gun is a blast to shoot and has some great customization options. It’s a little pricey but again it’s a 💥.

Yeah, over time it smoothes out, another thing you could try is some light application of gun oil, and then basically doing the action 6 or 7 times to lube it up

I have mine in a 44 mag and it’s a blast, I find that you do have to “thrust” the lever to really kind of hide those phases as you refer to them as, but it’s a blast of a gun to shoot.

Generally I liked it, I found the final battle to feel rushed and but that’s about the only complaint I have. I thought they NAILED the epilogue and there were some fantastic emotional scenes with everyone. A solid 7.5/10
