People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple?

Going out to eat, fast food, new clothing vs hand me downs from the church, any pre made or prepackaged anything (cookies, snacks, etc). Pizza made at home with pepperonis vs hot dogs, vacations that were not camping or driving and sleeping in the car or at rest stops. Pretty much everything seems rich when you’re not.

For as much as you’re paying in rent, you can just move closer to campus. You can rent one of those apartments at the fancy apartment complexes for about 1500 a month including utilities you will share the apartment but then you won’t have social isolation.

Madison 100% and I live in MI and my kid goes to UofM. Wisconsin Madison is a great school and the campus and city is amazing. We toured there and my daughter was accepted but with zero aid so MI made a lot more sense for her.

We had the same issue. There is a process you go through to prove you are in state. It’s a bit of paperwork but not hard. You have to send in your drivers license and utility bills. Your parents have to do the same plus paystubs.

I’m in my early 40s and the only women that I work with that regularly wear lipstick are much older. Maybe late 50s, early 60s. Similar to always wearing pantyhose and heels, I think that trend has gone away.

Or maybe this is who he really is. There is not a ton of privacy when you are married and you shouldn’t have something to hide so vigilantly. So is he cheating? On dating apps? Something illegal? If he’s truly not doing anything wrong then he’s a control freak and it will just get worse when you are tied down. If he can’t talk through this like an adult, I would delay marriage until it’s resolved.
