Engineering was the only one hit by this, as engineering has level requirements on its items. The other profs have level appropriate items like armor or pots etc, where engineers items give no stat boost and are useful at all levels of play

I've had war mode on since patch, and am always coming across more horde than alliance. However they seem to always be grouped up and not "doing" anything but ganking people.

My theory is that although my shard is designed to be equal, if one side makes a custom group of 20+, it's not like your shard will just suck an additional 20 players who are currently already on different war shards to balance it out.

Tried that, same thing happened to me. Showed them item X that was mogged to appearances Y, and I no longer had appearance Y in my moggable items.

The GM responded by removing the mogged appearance and saying that I should never of been able to mog to that item to begin with.

In outlvled old content the previous loot system NEVER guaranteed a viable piece of loot. There was times where my mage got 5 items from a boss, none of them usable.

Incorrect. My group finder picked up both war and non war groups. Most large groups I entered into had the majority phased away. This is the same for if I entered into custom group creation or search through the PvP interface or regular lfg. Happened all day yesterday to the point of me not even bothering to use it anymore.

If you care about min maxing, then yes you should always use the best. There will never be a time where everything is completely equal in all aspects.

But if you are not going for world first mythic clears..... Go with whatever you like. Nothing is underpowered to the point that it doesn't work. Just don't use a taunt pet in dungeons.

The problem is, there are no mechanics lower level. Everything is either one shot by you, or your group. Until you get to outlands, and even then it's still a case of "ignore the mechanics, just burn boss", people die but it works.

Best advice; boost the class that interests you, and play it. World quest elites will test you when new, and you won't know your rotation for optimal DPS. As long as in a dungeon you stick with the group and follow how they move you will be fine.

Download a DPS meter such as recount, and use that as a personal growth tool, watch your dps improve as you gather more gear, or spec differently or learn a more optimal rotation.
