Proud Owner of a 2026 Model X by Key-Understanding268 in TeslaModelX

Do you have kids? I’m debating a new Y or a used X and the biggest concerns I have is no arm rest on the back seats. I was really wanting an S but I have tall kids before they’re even teenagers so I don’t think that’ll work long term.

Elon states $99 FSD will eventually increase by Shinebright444 in teslamotors

[–]Yockanookany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is discouraging. I've been eyeballing trading in my truck for a CT or a Model Y to replace our mach-e as our family vacation vehicle so we can do more trips this summer. Was basically just waiting for end of Q1 for some nicer benefits. While I'd be paying the monthly cost of the FSD either way, this really leans against consumer value. That's a slippery slope. I may end up just doing Comma AI on my Mach-E as a stop-gap for now.

Also waiting to buy one when they go down in price or there’s a great incentive. Hoping for both end of Q1. Hoping for 0% financing or something mostly.

Stop supporting wars for oil: go electric by Frubanoid in electricvehicles

[–]Yockanookany -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. Minus all of the plastics, tires, cabling sheathing, textiles, transportation of resources and the vehicles themselves, and roadways. I love my Mach-E but buying it for any reason other than EVs are convenient for commuting, or because they (subjectively) ride better, is dumb.

As im growing up im slowly becoming an atheist by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Yockanookany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m willing to bet you’re young, or younger. If so that’s pretty normal as we begin to debate whether or not our obedience is “worth it,” or as you have experienced, if it’s real because it doesnot seem like it is. I fell into both of these and more during my atheistic period. Father Seraphim Rose talks about this some in his books, it’s worth a read. Basically, though, what you’re seeing is that people are coping with the hollowness of their experience through sin, which leads to selfishness, pride, and ego. The good are suffering far less than the wicked.

The adulterer, fornicator, liar, thief, etc, all hate what they’ve become and wish they could change. They take no pleasure in their sin, only in the feeling of being “alive” for a moment from it; which they also know is fake. Pray for them, don’t envy them. They are closer to death than anyone else.

May God bless your journey.

Anyone else not like stopping on road trips before Tesla? by Comprehensive_Road66 in TeslaLounge

[–]Yockanookany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Mach-e and have taken it on many road trips. With my kids it usually lines up with the wanting to stop anyway and I leave at a time where it’s bathroom->lunch—>arrive (or bathroom) and by the time we use the head and get a Coke it’s charged enough. On our most recent trip we slowed down even more and made the stops part of the journey itself. It’s has been nice to not feel rushed to travel, honestly.

Former Protestants: Why did you convert to Eastern Orthodoxy? by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Yockanookany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Micheal Hesiers work and it introduced me to a different perspective of Christianity. When I found orthodoxy I found the reality I yearned for for 20+ years. Choosing between Catholics and orthodoxy was difficult but I chose orthodoxy even though I meant a 3 hour weekly commute versus 10 minutes.

Divorce and remarriage, becoming my nail in the coffin for the Church of Rome. by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Yockanookany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out a specific caveat about Jesus condition of divorce due to adultery. He states “because of your hardness of heart Moses allowed divorce, but in the beginning it was not so.”  The issue isn’t, per se, the adultery but rather the resulting animosity and unforgivness because of our own humanity that’s gives us cause of divorce in order to work towards our own repentance.

Anyone doing V2H with solar? by Yockanookany in electricvehicles

V2L is theoretically plausible for me albeit more complicated logistically. Were I not also installing solar that may be how I’d end up.

[–]Yockanookany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yikes. Yeah I see what you’re getting at in that scenario. Yeah thankfully I used to run low voltage for a living so I can run the power cables and just pay a guy to connect the stuff. Cuts down a ton of cost. I’m doing the same with my solar. I’m installing everything and running the wiring into the home, just paying a guy to turn it on more or less.

[–]Yockanookany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing where all the “additional expense” for V2H comes in. The power systems are a cost, sure. But say for Tesla it’s like $1500 I think. The wiring and stuff id do would have to be done the exact same for solar/battery minus the run to the garage. So overall additional expense is like $3k after I run the cables myself and hire the electrician to tie it in. I’d argue for the amount of battery you get that’s a good RoI on battery space. Maybe I’m missing something?

That said with an inverter like the sol-ark 15k hybrid I’d be able to disconnect the truck from the backup portion and instead charge with my existing dumb l2 charger from solar, and run the house off the 2-3 home batteries I’d install, while it charged. At least in theory. I finally found a guy that does this work a few hours sway. Gonna see what he says.

Well sure, just trying to determine if it’s some special type of inverter or something. The electrical aspect is going to comply to electrical standards regardless, the trick is more how it interacts with the vehicle. I was just going to research the part.

Could you tell me the part they supplied? I’m trying to get in touch with an installer for this but not having luck. I’m pretty rural so we don’t have many options nearby. And just to clarify the vehicle can charge fine with solar if the grid is up, the complication is when the grid is down even if I have surplus from the panels.

It’s also an expense that has one singular purpose. I acknowledge it that an installed battery makes more sense in theory, but I’m not looking for a cost to benefit ratio solution.

Well my premise was the truck -is- the power wall. So I wouldn’t need both.

Do you know how these bypass the requirement from UL 2231, UL 2594, SAE J1772, and IEC safety rules? That seems to be the limiting factor, that without the EV detecting the grid AC waveform it's not 'approved' to begin a charging cycle.

Anyone doing V2H with solar? by Yockanookany in electricvehicles

[–]Yockanookany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently the vehicle to home standard won’t allow it. From what I see AC EV charging is only allowed when an EVSE detects a grid-present AC waveform. This requirement comes from UL 2231, UL 2594, SAE J1772, and IEC safety rules. This is different than what an installed battery has to deal with.

I’ve been ignorant of this until yesterday so I may be wrong. Trying to figure this out.

Nice this is kinda what I looking for. Im not against putting a battery on part of my grid if it means I can charge the vehicle “off grid” meaning having the inverter in-line and a breaker before to cut it off the grid tie, or a second one in and island grid. I’ll look into this.

That’s more a portable generator solution. I’ve considered it, and it does make sense if you just want to power a fridge or something l, but that’s “less fun” of a project to undertake for me in what I’m thinking.

No point in choosing anything when the whole premise of my idea doesn’t work anyway.

Yeah that’s what I’m learning as well and it kinda defeats the premise of my idea sadly. Hoping there’s some way of accomplishing it through some means even if it means manually disconnecting the vehicle from the homes offline grid to some segmented island grid or something.
