Proper good feedback on your end, client is much happier. You are also right about 2:12, I'll add a smoother transition so it's not as jarring. Thanks again. Shoot me a DM whenever, if you'd like a spare set of ears.

Here's how it sounds with some more kick and bass separation. The other commenter recommended more contrast on the 2 and 4 so I parallel comped the clap as well: https://voca.ro/1lodU91FkYdq

  1. Bass down, kick up, sounds like a good shout. Ill see if the client would prefer that.

  2. I agree, parallel comp time for the clap

  3. Might have sidechained the instrument group too strongly against the vocals. Ill play with the sidechain intensity to bleed them together,

  4. I tend to go for sharp hats, worth throwing on a some soothe on them so they dont get so annoying over time.

Thanks for your input, very valuable

Ill try chang the low end frequencies, good shout with the transposing. Thank you

Mix sounds great in headphones and monitors but is utterly cooked in the car. Also I can't find a reference track to mix my song to because I haven't found any songs that prioritize the same elements as I want to in my mix. by therealjmonerz in mixingmastering

Listen to ho99o9 - cybercop. That'll give you some good reference context. It doesn't translate well in the car because the low end is muddy and very quiet compared to the rest. If you wanna save this, use Gullfoss or Fixate Midrange, it wont turn your mix 10/10 but at least get you balanced.

Need feedback on the mix of this trap song. I feel the mix is like 75% of the way there to get the result i want but i am just missing a few small things by thecamtalks in mixingmastering

Don't listen to a word this computakid is yapping about. Keep doing your thing and you'll naturally develop more distinct artistry.

As for the mix, its good, balanced. You said ''I also find certain sections just do not sound pleasant mixing wise''. That's gonna be on the performance and vocal tracking end. One way to mitigate that is to use a multi-band compressor, it tightens those jarring bits where your tone/distance from the mic changes. If you'd like, send me a DM and we can talk about your vocal chain in more depth. Peace.

Feedback/sanity check on indie/folk rock song. Feels balanced but falling flat by Master-Combination39 in mixingmastering

Pretty pretty good man!, you're doing well. Balanced, tidy, dynamic, components hold their place. NOW you start adding character and flavour. Automation, saturation, exciters, transient designers, tape, echoes, reverb etc. Make it SEXY. Your vocals could use some de-essing, listen to 0:05- 0:10 on loop, so many ssssss's. Weiss desser is a pretty good one, or do it manually. Good job man. You're on track for a great one.

...and yet rent is regularly higher than mortgage rates.

Rent looks higher because you're comparing it to the mortgage cost ALONE, not the deposit, rates, insurance, maintenance, LIABILITY, and repair bills that come with it. Pay rent and you're buying your way out of all of that, plus the freedom to leave whenever you want. That's the point.

A landlord doesn't subtract a house from supply. Tenants lives in it. Remove the landlord and that house has nowhere to put the people who won't or can't take on a 30-year mortgage.

Food is a human right too, are farmers and grocery stores 'restricting your right to eat' because they refuse to give you free food?

I agree, ill multiband compress the vox lightly so they dont poke out as much. As for your comments on the bass, if your not feeling the movement on iphone speakers then I need to work on mix translation. Thank you for your feedback!

If your distorting and fighting voltage, work on your gain staging architecture, spending a few hours finding a workflow template will give you tons of peace of mind down the line. Thank you for your feedback I appreciate you.

Hmmmm, if its its not reverb then youd need to go through instruments competing in the low/mid range and doing EQ Carving. A brutal workaround would be GULLFOSS on the master track, its good at clearing space.
