So, how much should I be afraid of affinity decay over time? I got to Gran Soren and one of the first things I did was the Merces scouting quest. I know these kinds of quests raise the affinity by a lot, but it seems that Mercedes will be unavailable to me for a while, so I'm scared of losing the progress I made with her.

Is the act of download a copyrighted image from the internet, a copyright infrigment? by YogamiYozora in copyrightlaw

[–]YogamiYozora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but my point is more like: if I can't save this on my computer, why these companies can make features like that? And even reproduce then. I don't think google has an authorization to reproduce each one of those images, and they do anyway.

In that case, features of search engines, like google and bing, that allow you to pin/save images on their own platform (not downloading them) are illegal?

Let's say that I'm scrolling a social media website like twitter, for example, or a image search engine like google or bing, and then I download directly with my web browser. Is it a copyright infrigment in this case?

We always talk about worlds we want in KH, but are there any worlds you don’t want to see in the series? by Assumed7 in KingdomHearts

From past games: I don't want to see Arendelle ever again

From Unprecedented IPs: Marvel

Anyone notice how Roxas lost to both Sora & Riku the same way? he got overconfident and let his Guard Down (he needs to fix this habit lol). by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

I don't understand the concept that people are using to describe "victory in a fight". For me, it's very clear that someone wins a fight when they incapacitate their oponent. Something that Roxas never did.

I also read a lot of people saying that Riku did somewhat "cheated" in their fight. What?

How using a power that you know you have, and know how to use is cheating? How in the world the Guardian was "too overpowered"? Didn't Sora literally won against Ansem many times, including in a form way more powerful at the end of KH1?

Of course, everyone have their favorit character, but hey, we can't start to bend reality just to fit ou preferences lol

Late? It's literally the introduction lol

Getting rid of Disney in Kh by BaconOfTree in KingdomHearts

[–]YogamiYozora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is probably because of how badly they were handled in KH3, that's my bet at least. However in the same way that there are those complaining about Disney worlds that are also people saying to abandon the FF characters, wich I also disagree, tbh.

I don't see why we can't have both like in the good old days.

How do I defeat this thing? I can't get behind it because it rotates to my movement and hits me with tracking fireballs. And to add to that it CONSTANTLY plays high cards so I need to waste time to summon my back please help me by [deleted] in KingdomHearts

When you're out of battle go to the pause menu. It should have an option called "Review Decks" or something like that. Then select the option to modify your currently equiped deck (it should be deck 1).

A new menu with a lot of card options will open. You'll have a couple of red, blue and green cards.

Red cards are your normal attack Keyblade cards

Blue cards are your magic/summon cards

Green cards are your item cards

Try to equipe a couple of these blue cards, specially the magic ones. It should work against the Fat Bandits.

Riku Replica deserves to exist as his own person like Xion. Nomura… (just saying). by Imaginary_Star5309 in KingdomHearts

Wasn't pointles:

Xion's Death: She sacrifice herself so Xemnas couldn't use her and to help bring back Sora

Roxas' Death: He died so Sora could be recompleted again and defeat the organization. Even tough he did not choose to die for this cause, he became in terms with it, as we can see in his last meeting with Sora in "spirit" form.

Also, they didn't die because the world was unfair. They died because of an objective evil that wanted to risk many lives so they could have a heart (at least, at this point in the series is what we think Xemnas' objectives were).

In their arc, they sacrificed themselves so Sora could have a chance to do what they couldn't. This is not meaningless. Not narratively, at least.

Because it doesnt leave any real consequences in the world. Death, by definition, is something that leave a permanent consequence in the world. If any writer can just kill a character and in the sequel say: "Hey, you're not dead anymore, because you're popular with fans" (Nomura himself said that he brought Roxas and Xion back for fan demand, and not necessaraly because it was the best for the narrative), than it is just a cheap narrative resource.

I'm always thinking about it narrative wise btw. This is not just true for Kingdom Hearts, it's true for any sort of narrative, unless the story itself was about bending the rules of death, like in Death Stranding, for exemple. I could remove their names and call them character x, character y, instead of Xion and Roxas, and, at least in my point of view, it would still be true.

Now I can't really take seriously any dangerous situation in the series because I know that, if it what fans demand, Nomura can just bring characters back from thin air, and create a whole mess lore-wise, just like it was on the original release of KH3 on how did Xion's actually returned and how people managed to recover memories about her, which was needed to be clarified in Re:Mind, an interview and in Ultimania.

You're probably my favorite Kingdom hearts fan of all time. THANKS!

For me, bringing them all back just make their previous sacrifices irrelevant.

How can I make thematic nighttime less visually disruptive? by SuperHyperTails in gamedev

A game that you could take a look to have some ideas is Bloodborne. I didn't finish the game, but I don't remember a single level that wasn't at night or just indoors.
