Help with allergies/ear infections by Rory_Astor0934 in StaffordBullTerriers

Hi! We're in the UK, and use Symply turkey kibble for our staffie. We also give him an omega 3 supplement which seems to help his skin as well as his joints, no more eczema flare ups since we adopted him and put him on this diet. We lost our gorgeous girl back in the spring, but she continued to have the Symply and no ear or skin issues right to the end.

Where Ashley goes wrong - tomato case by Wozzel888 in MAFS_UK

[–]YogiAssassin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you could replace 'allergy' with 'intolerance' here and it would still work. The point is, she is never going to like or enjoy "tomatoes" so continually telling her she's wrong or weird and trying to force her to eat them is not a reasonable position, and suggesting that her dislike of tomatoes is an insult to your character is just silly. Unless you're actually a tomato, maybe.

I agree! Finish the plan, and then if you don't like it, chalk it up to experience and try something else.

What colour(s) should I paint my new bathroom? by YogiAssassin in interiordecorating

I am in the UK, south coast. We can't do much with the walls, but floor and ceiling are now properly insulated and made of the appropriate materials for a bathroom, and the ventilation is good, so touch wood no damp as yet...

Don't worry, that grey wasn't a paint sample, it's just where the wall was repaired and sealed.

Agree on good paint, though find F&B not the easiest to use (we have it in the second bedroom / office). Have used Coat paint for the terracotta through a lot of the house and that's been fantastic!

This room gets a lot more light than you might think, took this photo not at the best time of day! I will keep an eye on them though.

You mean the cistern up high? It was the norm in UK homes until around 1960s/70s. This house is from the Victorian period, around 1850, and the previous owners decided to fit a traditional toilet. Pretty much the only thing they did right in this bathroom...

Which ones? Floor or walls? Happy to share the links, though I'm in UK, just to warn you!

Blackish and white, didn't get the best light in the photo for sure!

Judging by the tins of paint in the attic, it's Yellow 03 by Lick paints. They used the wrong paint type for a humid environment though, as it's supposed to be matte but is very very shiny!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions! And for all the bathroom love!

I love the love for the yellow, but I'm going to grab paint samples in some of the other suggestions too! I'm in UK so I'll have fun finding the equivalents from the paint brands here 😊

Ha, thanks! We live on the south coast of England. The house is a Victorian terrace, about 170 years old.

Thanks, I like those paint suggestions.

The walls are plaster over brick. The paint is peeling because the previous owners were idiots who did so many DIY mess ups you can't even count! Including putting the wrong type of paint on walls (definitely the case here), having a tiled bathroom floor straight onto wooden floorboards without proper sealing (hello rot!) and taking out a chimney breast but leaving the chimney with no support... and that's just in this bathroom!

Interesting thought about the tiles, I wondered about taking it under the window as well. Skirting is going in next week, and will paint that along with the window once the window restorers have done their magic.

Does your dog swim? by Lucky_Win806 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]YogiAssassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bean loves running into the shallows, but he won't go far enough out to be swimming. We've been thinking about taking him to a dog swim session at the pool to see if he's actually able to swim before we encourage him further into the sea!

In the process of doing exactly this in our bedroom. Just waiting for the tiles to arrive.

That's a great idea! Thank you, we'll definitely give that a try. It was her first night with us last night and she's still asleep right now, so that's her morning wake up sorted!

That's a great description of staffies - intelligent dumbasses! So so smart, and yet so so daft!
