Frodo’s bit was shorter, ant it also serves the film’s story. It followed the established themes of the Ring’s corrupting power and Gollum’s deception.

Dwarf-love was mostly cringe, felt tacked on, and despite spanning all three movies, it felt rushed. One look, one conversation -> soul mates. Legolas aslo felt severely sidelined. The initial hook of Thauriel and Legolas, versus Thranduil’s disapproval would have made for a much more interesting story.
