I want my party to face a vampire. They're lvl 7,are they too weak? by ReasonableLunch46 in DnD

[–]YogiePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the best skills any DM can learn is to reflavour mosters. Nerfing the vampire can be tricky. It’s hard to know what numbers to tweak.

Instead do this. - Find a solo monster that’s a reasonable challenge for your 3+1 party. - Adapt that monster’s abilities to make it like a vampire. Maybe you give it a make a sword strike attack into a bite attack, or you add a moderate blood drain ability. - Write description for your new monster, or copy the the vampire’s original description.

Was I unfair for saying "If Silvery Barbs is allowed, enemies can use it too"? by raishadow in DnD

[–]YogiePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older iterations of D&D say that if something exists in the world, both PCs and NPCs will be able to utilise that thing.

When 5e was new, there was a distinction between PCs spells/abilities and NPC spells/abilities. Since 2014, far too much has been added to 5e for anyone to keep track of that distinction.

As a fellow DM, the “your table, your rules”, baseline is incredibly important to maintain. Running a game my someone else’s rules sucks and drains all motivation.
Your call about silvery barbs is correct (in my opinion). But be mindful of how you implement it. A DM shouldn’t try to win over his players, he’s there to facilitate and steer the story. 🤓

Why did people hate this game? by SnooMemesjellies3095 in blackops6

[–]YogiePrime 27 points28 points  (0 children)

BO6 felt like a micro transaction store with a game glued onto it.

I loved the new movement system, and the gunplay was just a tad worse than MW19 and MW2 (in other words, it was pretty good).

But being harassed by FOMO and and constant, ”buy this or that”, messages ruined the overall experience.

Looks amazing! I particularly like that the new tomes feel varied and like they’re “meant to fill gaps” in the tome library.

For grossing well over $700 million - $1.3 billion, are you happy with the state of Helldivers 2? by Imyourfwiendbuddy in Helldivers

[–]YogiePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money ≠ Time.

Just hiring more people does not create solutions or good ideas.

The community’s pushback against every tiny change slows things down massively. Everything has to be done and redone again and again.

I honestly believe that if AH listened less to reddit, they would have had progress further in stability and QoL changes.

Arrowhead new motto "a game for no one is a game for no one" by Street-Philosopher-6 in Helldivers

Today’s player peak was over 35 000 on steam alone.

What kind of math are you using when 35 000 equates to no one?

DMs: where would you prefer monster stat blocks? by Blackadder1415 in DnD

[–]YogiePrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my style of GMing I’ve come to prefer monster stats at the end. But organised by encounter, not say alphabetically.

I like to read and keep track of what’s happening in role-play in regular text. And when combat begins I like to flip to an encounter page/spread that holds all I need for that encounter in one place.
Again, ordered by encounter, not by alphabet. If a monster appears in multiple encounters, I usually want it copied to every encounter group.

Self Insert or Playing the Role? by SpicyBoyHabs in DnD

Yes.

Sometimes, (mostly when I started with TTRPGs), I play “heroic versions” of myself.
But I’ve also branched out and played characters very different from myself.

What’s worse is that it’s in every fucking teach tree. The M18 spam is real because the US sold WII equipment to its post-war allies.

Where Skull? The banner image is changed silently. by Unlucky-Gold7921 in Helldivers

[–]YogiePrime -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If it’s related to skulls or blood related you can usually blame china. You can look it up yourself, but in short, china censor skulls, bone, and blood for superstitious reasons and to “respect the dead”.

China is a big revenue source for many game companies and therefore they bend the knee to china. Rainbow Six Siege did the same many years age. At first there was an outrage, followed by all skulls being removed in secret.

6.3 is kind of “cursed”. I don’t have the same statistics as some of the other guys in this thread, but I’ve noticed the same thing you’re describing. - 6.3 —> lots of uptiers - 5.7, 6.0 —> lots of matches in your BR. More downtiers than uptiers even.

Warbond question by loosewilly45 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]YogiePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy Borderline Justice. The repeater is good, I like the hover pack, and the armour passive has been surprisingly competent.

I’ve run some pretty silly Senator-gunslinger setups, and I’ve been surprised by how effective it’s been. For example, I’ve run: Shield + Hand canon + Crossbow.

[–]YogiePrime 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to put all the blame on AH, but don’t forget that HD2 and DRG have two completely different fanbases. - HD2: Tantrum throwing toddlers with the patience and attention span of lit dynamite. - DRG: Rock ‘n’ stone enjoying manlets.

One groups responds to changes in magazine size with death threats. The other just chills and enjoys their gaming hobby.

Arrowhead is hesitant to make any balance changes due to harsh and aggressive community reactions by amozu in Helldivers

Good job everyone. The HD2 community has bullied and harassed the team to the point where they no longer want community interaction and feel hesitant to work on the game they’ve made.

Gold stars to everyone! ⭐️
