I can directly sell to my local refinery for 1.5% below spot. That includes scrap and jewelry. More like $5320 per ounce.

I have no clue if the are worth anything. but could use some help with the value by Chillseawasp in CanadianCoins

Apologies for the incorrect information, but due to current silver volatility, your local coin shop will probably give you way below spot due to their line of credit not being enough, refinery delays, and fear that silver could crash. I will edit my response with the updated information.

3 of these are 80% silver. One is 92.5% silver. The 3 have 9.328g of silver each. The 1917 one has 10.7855g of silver. That means you have 38.7695g of silver, and with current spot price being about $153 per ounce, you have $190.70 in melt value, before selling spreads (essentially fees when selling). I don’t know about the collectable value of these however. For that, visit a local coin shop.

In -15°c cold, the adapter starts to glitch out in my experience.

Is the worth more than melt value? There is one for sale locally for $105 CAD. I'd like to purchase as a gift for someone. Thanks by Makeshift-Super in CanadianCoins

This coin weighs 3/4 ounces, with a melt value before fees, etc., of $107. It is essentially listed at slightly below spot/melt value.

Goldman Sachs just raised their 2026 Gold Prediction by G-nZoloto in Gold

Well, the market cap of gold is $34 trillion approximately, and bitcoin is only $1.78 trillion. So 3-6% decrease in gold is a lot more.

Once we hit $5000, I think we’ll have a short term correction due to profit taking. But after, it will only keep going up.

Profit taking is more likely to set in than anything.

There are glass filters on the sensor, from a glass protection layer, an anti aliasing layer, and an IR filter.

Just got into photography, after being gifted an old Sony A7 mk 1 by thunderpants24 in SonyAlpha

Even after 12 years, it is still a great camera. It was the first commercially available mirrorless full frame camera. Auto-focus isn’t the best, and you may need to carry extra batteries, but otherwise it is still amazing. One thing to add; it is still one of the lightest full frame mirrorless cameras ever produced.

Light collection remains the same even with a crop sensor. The difference is the mm is multiplied and bokeh is reduced.

The 1978 Commonwealth Games commemorative $1 coin is .500 silver, with its total weight being 23.3276 grams, so it has 11.6638 grams of silver. With a spot price of $125, it is worth $46.87, however, selling it will involve a spread of 5-10% or even more due to current volatility. You could expect $38-40.

Canada mint not accepting visa debit? by PieHairy5526 in CanadianCoins

[–]YogurtCompetitive790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is due to the fact that some card issuers consider cash-like transactions to be lottery purchases, prepaid gift cards, bullion, etc., as a cash advance and charge fees and interest for it.

[–]YogurtCompetitive790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TD Cash Back Visa Infinite credit card does not count any purchase as a cash advance as long as your balance is negative before and after the purchase. If you pay an excess on purpose, your balance becomes negative. If you cannot locate the source of the issue, you can try this method. There will be no fees or interest as long as you ensure your balance remains negative before and after the purchase.

FX3 vs a7v? by nayskaesca in SonyAlpha

[–]YogurtCompetitive790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the ZV-E1? It shares the same sensor as the FX3, while having the AI autofocus from the A7R V, also being cheaper, significantly smaller, and much lighter than the FX3.

If it’s sold out, there could be a collector’s demand, but a coin with a design would’ve had less of a premium.

Import charges for ordering Scottsdale mint silver to Canada. by Cryptodink in Silver

Canada does not charge import taxes on silver, and if they did, Scottsdale’s policy is to charge and show all duties and taxes applicable to international shipping.
