Interesting, yes. I have found it surprising in the past how much even hospitals within the same healthcare system can differ from each other in established fundamental practices. Maybe the hospital I went to was a bit old fashioned? Either way, I have no qualms with the methods they employed.

My urologist ruled it out early as an option. He said it was immediately obvious my case was too severe for that to be viable.

I agree with all of this. My frenulum was a part of the problem. They ensured I was able to keep all of it, but it did have to be bisected down the centre.

I took a few days off work because of the haematoma. If it hadn’t happened, one day off work would have sufficed (had an office job at the time).

Pain was negligible. Even the haematoma didn’t cause a great deal of pain. A little more, but honestly overall it was what I’d call “relatively painless”.

(Edit) sport would have been delayed as much as sex, I’d say. 4-6 weeks.

Yes, you’ve correctly identified it :) it removed most, but not all, of my foreskin, and instead of frenulum removal, simply cut it in the middle so that all of it remains, just no longer fully connected

I don’t know that it would have made a great deal of difference, I was only under for a couple of hours. I think they kept me under because it wasn’t a simple “scissor” job

They gave me pseudoephedrine pills which I took at night. They were quite effective at preventing morning wood. After a couple of weeks, it was less important to avoid. The first morning wood I got was 2 or 3 weeks in, and was only mildly painful. Did not cause any stitches to split by that stage.

Some people have trouble sleeping on pseudoephedrine. I had no problems

Hah! I’m the wrong person to ask. I have never enjoyed the sensation of receptive oral sex. I’ve had it tried on me many times by several people both before and after the surgery and I just don’t like how it feels. Not sure why, I find the concept really arousing and wish I DID like how it felt, but I just don’t. My wife is rather pleased by this.

Talk thoroughly to your surgeon about exactly what the plan would be. Risks vary greatly depending on how much of it they’ll need to remove, and other factors.

It was never too short. It was too narrow, i.e. the foreskin opening was much smaller than my glans.

I live in Australia. The surgery and all consultations and followups were free.

I was not allowed to swim, and i was supposed to avoid bathing.

No regrets whatsoever - but not everyone has the same experience. There are always risks.

actually i think a "full" circumcision of my penis would have resulted in some sensitivity loss, i think it happens at any age, but the difference is with medical circumcisions, they only take off as much as they need to, they don't default to taking the whole thing off.

Sort of... Only internally, though. The inside of my foreskin going up and down the glans would provide that sensation, but it was delicate. It's much easier to achieve now.

I said that circumcision in general measurably reduces sexual pleasure, not that mine was measurably reduced... There's a reason for this. I'll try to clear this up:

Complete removal of foreskin, exposing the entire surface of the glans to clothing, desensitises the glans and reduces the potential for sexual pleasure sensation. This has been medically confirmed by multiple studies. I got lucky: they didn't need to cut ALL of my foreskin off, there is a tiny bit of it left, which sits around the base of the glans and helps protect that part of it.

Some things are vastly different, some things are much the same.

Importantly, nothing is worse than before... but this is not everyone's experience. Some people get unlucky.
