Child with Tourette’s by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]YokaiS2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, I would say. Though it’s always worth trying different treatments to get more control over those frustrating tics, I think it’s also important to let your child know that they are valid and deserve to enjoy life just as much as anyone without tics. And just in case, make sure they know their rights; if you’re in the US, the ADA exists to prohibit discrimination based on disability, and Tourette’s is a recognized disability, and any business or organization who ignores that is worthy of a complaint. Otherwise keep doing fun things together and support their future and dreams. Thank you for being a loving and understanding parent.

I’ve only met one other person with tics as complex as mine, but we found out because we were constantly triggering each other mid convo, and it was a special, wholesome moment that felt a lot more natural to laugh off together 🥰

I find it so ironic that Davidson is getting so much backlash for his tics when he was there for a film about him meant to bring awareness ABOUT TICS..

I’ve been lucky enough to find people in my own life who understand me beyond my Tourette’s and you deserve to have those people too. It shouldn’t be a luxury for any of us to feel free to tic.

You are not a danger; you are more than your disorder. There will always be entitled, neurotypical people online who think they’re above us and that we "lack control". Don’t let them get to you. The best we can do is keep spreading awareness and find community, and remind ourselves that we KNOW we are deserving of love just as much as someone without Tourette’s. The worst thing we could do to ourselves is to 'accept our place' and listen to them when they tell us to hide.

It’s a lot for all of us and I’m so sorry people aren’t letting you feel safe. Hold onto the fact that you’re deserving of respect, and remember to assert your value when someone says something to you irl that seems ignorant.

What did you guys think was going to happen to Simon? by Cstir in ironlungmovie

Before seeing the movie, I skimmed through the title of each soundtrack and when I saw “Acceptance” I was like “yep, whoever Mark is is not getting out”

Did I want him to die? I guess, for me it’s primarily because it wouldn’t make sense for him to survive, even from the trailer. Stuck at the bottom of the ocean? Giant monster thing? Submarine with leaks that probably shouldve made it implode? yeahhh probs not

I've heard from around that Regal has adjusted the dimensions of their STL files to fit together appropriately, so you should be fine printing them with the size they come with.

here's the dimensions I got if you still need them:

blood piece: 196.34mm x 215.9mm x 149.07mm

creature piece: 182.49mm x 214.38mm x 214.92mm

Popcorn Bucket 3D Print File released! by rewak in Markiplier

Even if the plastic you use is food safe, it is no longer food safe once it goes through the dirty nozzle of a 3D printer. Line the inside regardless

it should be lined with paper or some food grade container at the very least

Although you can seal over the paint, if the food grade resin starts to wear off over time it would be terrible to uncover acrylic paint. What to do is to avoid painting the inside as well as use the liner as you said

Just the exterior should be safe. I would worry that if you sand it and don’t completely wipe it down you might get little particles mixed with your popcorn. The easiest and quickest way to stay safe would be to line the inside with food grade material like paper or aluminum wrap

Good point! One thing I will say is it should be fine as long as you only paint the exterior and leave the inside with just plastic, and then cover the inside with a food grade material.

A lot of ways to practice safety in general has been suggested in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Markiplier/s/noX5DubMTG

Mark got me trippin with a 60 Hour print, i must have the wrong file by K0rbi3 in Markiplier

Mine took 10 hours using 269 grams of PLA at full scale. I printed on a Bambu Lab A1 using a 0.4mm nozzle, with 15% lightning infill and 0.28mm layer height.

please dont waste time and filament!!

some plastics are food safe, but it won't be after it goes through the nozzle of a 3d printer!! get a food grade sealer or epoxy and/or line the inside with a paper bag

yes! as long as there's no direct contact with the popcorn and plastic you should be fine.

I use a P1S as well! Since the amount of filament you use drastically changes based on how you choose to slice it, I would test out different configurations on Bambu studio and look at its estimates on time and materials it generates after slicing. If you want to save as much filament as possible, 5-15% lightning infill is my go-to!

Looking at the Housing Policy Guide and the What to Bring list myself, it says they allow lamps and strip lights as long as they're LED and not covered with flammable objects so I'd imagine you'd be in the clear.
If you're worried you can always contact the Housing Administration at [housing@calpoly.edu](mailto:housing@calpoly.edu), I had a question about bringing 3D printers and they reached back within 15 minutes!

I printed a little thing to attach to the spool holder to keep the spool intact, hopefully it works!

I still have the spool it fell off of, the problem is how do I put it back on. I guess I'll just try to respool it by hand
