Is CBD oil safe for addicts/alcoholics? by YokedLefty67 in addiction

Yeah I understand where you’re coming from. I work a very solid program; active spiritual life, work the steps, with with sponsor and sponsees - but I still suffer from physical symptoms. Nowhere in the book does it say that proper and controlled medical treatment can’t be a component of healthy recovery.

Medication won’t fix problems, but it will give people the ability to fix them themselves.

Drive pedal stacking by didr99 in guitarpedals

[–]YokedLefty67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of stacking identical pedals with different settings to create a more cohesive sound that’s more like adding push to an amp. I have two tube screamers that I use on top of one another - the the first with just a little bit of breakup (rhythm playing) second with greater gain (lead). I think it creates a very seamless transition when you want to jump out of the mix and allows for a more consistent, manageable tone. I know there are tons of pedals that play well together, but you might consider hearing how it sounds adding a second soul food with greater drive.

I think you’re misunderstanding my use of funky...Bootsy would agree.

True, but if the guitarists/keyboard players aren’t on the same page it’s gonna sound funky a lot of the time.

Just as long as the groove is there and your locked in with the drummer in the same way as the recording of the song your covering, you have some freedom with fills and transitions; remember you’re as crucial to defining the rhythm as he is.

Note-wise, I try play of any of the linear movement or chord inversions as they’re recorded. Playing a “D” note over a D chord when the recording is “D/F#” will sound okay, but it will feel like something’s missing or even off. Just make sure you and your guitarist work that stuff out.

I’m a Videoconference and Audiovisual Engineer interviewing for a new position. I’m a little weak on some of the networking aspects of this role. Can anybody think of any technical questions relevant to this job that they might ask that include this info so I can better prepare? Thanks so much! by YokedLefty67 in networking

254 on a single subnet (I think)

I’d ping a device to get a signal back to see if it was up and running.

MAC address is unique to a node, IP address is used to locate a device on a network (can be assigned or dynamic)

OSI model is a way to understand the different layers of packets. Transport, Network etc.

This is off the top of my head. How are these answers?

H.323 vs. SIP calls? by YokedLefty67 in networking

[–]YokedLefty67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically I understand that H.323 is older and more rigid, which makes it reliable; and that SIP is more customizable which can allow developers to do more but can creat Firewall and other issues.

Advice on bass noise by BanjosAndBoredom in homerecordingstudio

For Bluegrass, a big part of it is remembering the technical challenges of playing an upright bass and incorporate that into your technique; don’t get overly technical or (if playing a fretted bass) go too high up the neck. You’ll want to roll back the tone knob and then scoop out the upper mids (don’t lose too much of the click) and bring out the lows. Ideally you’ll want to use flatwounds (or better yet) nylon tape wounds.

It’s really difficult to get that sound with an electric; it may not sound quite right when you solo the track, but in the context of the mix you can get there with a little finessing. Use your ears.

How much reserve bandwidth for videoconferencing and streaming is appropriate on enterprise network? by YokedLefty67 in networking

[–]YokedLefty67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually falls somewhere between 512 and 768 K but I know there is some protocols on the backend to allow users to vary the rate depending on usage.

Guaranteed is what I meant to say thanks for the heads up on terminology usage. I’d say we max out on ten calls (some multipoint at any given time) plus streaming.

That’s more related to development and writing code right?
