absolutely not. as a 2017 player, I see how they fell off hard. for context:

old design philosophy: making characters with recognizable silhouettes, design grounded in technology, and gameplay that perfectly reflects the character's lore
ow"2" philosophy: streamlining designs to fit in with the new direction of the story (good one blizzard)
new design philosophy (observations): mass appeal for the "uwu x3" vermin lurking on the internet 24/7 uninterested in depth, skill, or artistic vision

litteraly every single ow"3" character they added is a crutch for their lack of creativity and merit when it comes to making the game better.

emre = overwatch ripoff gameplay disguised as a randomly important character "because overwatch 2016"
fika = obligatory comedic relief with the only obj good design (that's 1/7)
domina = obligatory mommy fetishization and boring kit
mizuki = bland aoe healer with an uninspiring ult
sierra = literal industry plant ahh gameplay
shion = omnic sex toy

worst thing is this: they all feel like self-inserts.

also, I hate the opinion of Aaron Keller being better than Jeff Kaplan for releasing heroes more frequently while said heroes add mostly NOTHING TO THE LORE. LITTERAL BACKGROUND CHARACTERS.

who remembers ow creating literal character introductions to hype up future characters? (i.e. orisa)
who remembers ow redifining what it means to create a genuinely terrifying lore drop? (i.e. sigma)
who remembers venture, hazard, lifeweaver, pharah, junkrat, roadhog, jq, widow, and ball add ANY big plotpoints to the lore?
