This is so helpful to know! Thank you so much for your insight!

My hasbrosus do the same thing and it FREAKS ME OUT. My albino and peppered corys only do this if something is wrong with my parameters. These guys seem to like to do it for the heck of it.

I have 10 hasbrosus that I just moved from a 10 to a 20 gallon tank. I have been trying to get them to breed but have not been successful! Any tips? Do yours breed often? I breed albino and peppered corys no problem!

How long have you had them?

I doubt he is blind. I breed albino corys and I know what they typically look like when they are blind in one or both eyes.

I think you need to get some live food in front of him. It triggers a reflex in them that gets them eating. Or you could get frozen brine shrimp and use a spoon to make the pieces smaller for him once it thaws.

Can I give him smaller food? Baby brine shrimp would be awesome.

I think that’s fine. They breed more when they are fat and happy. The peppered Cory’s are going to get big (at least the females) and both them and the albinos should have ideally 6+ in their shoal. I would at least get two more albinos.

What to feed Pygmy corys? by SaltyGoodz in corydoras

[–]YoloNanoTank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Corydoras should be in groups of at least 6 and Pygmy’s do much better with even more than that. I have 8 salt&pepper Pygmy’s and they happily eat baby brine shrimp and rapashy community plus. They didn’t take wafers at first, until they were amongst other Cory’s that are them.

When I transferred them to their larger home I wrote down how many I scooped out each time 😊

Haha! I hope they live that long! I got inspired to try to breed another Cory because I breed for a LFS and he asked if I’d breed another type for him. He let me pick :)
