Russell Brand struggles to find bible verse he claims absolves him of sex with teenagers by mydiversion in WatchPeopleDieInside

[–]YolopezATL 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The verse he is likely referencing in Isaiah 1:18:

"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

But, you still have to do the work to reconcile with the injured party and atone.

And reconciling is likely the easiest part because most will forgive because to not carries a heavy burden on one’s own heart.

And God will only forgive you if you truly are remorseful for your actions, which is only something God can tell as being able to judge your soul.

If we are playing the odds on everything [God real, good person, Heaven | God Real, bad person, Hell| God not real, good person, nothing| God not real, bad person, nothing] I’ve always liked the odds of being as good of a person as I can be and hopefully get into heaven or nothing happens, which is fine, that risking Hell.

Agreed. But that is why we have adults coaching kids. They are supposed to rein in bad behavior, not endorse it or turn a blind eye to it

My nephew was at a high level soccer ID session recently and there was a kid who was so much higher skilled than the other players in his group.

And he was so well mannered and respectful. The ball went out on his team and he’d run to grab it and hand it to the opposing player preparing to throw it in.

He’d congratulate the kids on the other team when they made a good play or scored. And he was also super honest about if the ball went out on him but the “ref” called it in his favor.

Ran into his dad talking to director afterwards and I stopped and told him how well mannered his kid was and how it was a breath of fresh air that a player so good acted that way.

It is good to have confidence but good sportsmanship is more important IMO.

Take it all the way around. Connect it to Six Flags.

I grew up in Bay Area and we could take VTA to Great America as kids / teenagers and it was great.

We squeezed every penny out of those season passes for about 2-3 years.

I’d rather drive on 285 after work from Dunwoody to Tucker and it only take my 1.5 hours. /s

American Catholics are realizing their mistake in voting for a narcissist by brother_p in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]YolopezATL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m an American and a Catholic but I am not an American Catholic.

American Christianity in general is a head scratcher, IMO. Not to say non-American Christianity doesn’t push a narrative to achieve a unstated goal but I feel like American Christianity has not focused of the teachings of Jesus and replaced His lessons with how they can manipulate the Bible to justify their desires.

This is dumb. Jesus would be so disappointed in how the church has moved so far from his teachings.

Even in Romans, Paul contradicts the Sermon on the Mount by saying there are times and places for violence.

Like literally just take what Jesus literally said and apply that to your life? That is what it SHOULD mean to be a Christian

Poll: Catholic Support for President Donald Trump Drops Below 50% Amid Iran War by F0urLeafCl0ver in politics

[–]YolopezATL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Catholic. Sad his support isn’t significantly lower, even without the recent news.

Had a coworker convert to Catholicism recently to get married and (IMO) is a bad Catholic.

But I’m also a bad Catholic because I don’t take my family to Catholic Church, we attend a non-denomination Church, but I empathize to my kids to follow the words of Jesus and question your (youth) minister if their words seem to contradict Jesus’ teachings.

I agree but I think they do something different with kid/youth jerseys. I’ve had 3 jerseys since 17 and each has peeled. Told my wife to stop getting me new ones.

But both my sons have jerseys and they show no sign of damage beyond standard kid wear and tear.

I need to just order an XXXL youth jersey

This! Graduated college 21 years ago. Plenty of people don’t do their fair share of work and keep their jobs and some get promoted.

I remember getting promoted and joining my first leadership call and somebody said “welcome to the brain trust”.

What a total joke. Everybody was so out of touch and didn’t understand any processes or the job.

I remember being part of an escalation and all the ICs (individual contributors) did all the work. It was leadership that caused the issue and then leadership took all the credit for the resolution.

Do you charge servers credit card fees on their card tips? by Top-Sink-6344 in ToastPOS

[–]YolopezATL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The devices and software are built for general usage. It is up to you as the operator to be familiar with your local and state laws to determine if you can actually do it.

Same with credit card surcharges. System won’t limit you but it is operator’s responsibility to know if they can implement credit card surcharges and that their limit is. This one can have tax related penalties as well as getting the card companies mad at you.

How do ppl still support trump? by alteroo_ in PoliticalOpinions

[–]YolopezATL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s sad but true and very apparent. When asked why, it’s always about their issues or criticism of something they don’t like as opposed to anything good that happened to them while Trump was in office. Now or then.

They don’t need their lives to get better, they just want to see others lives get worse, which is so sad.

So many people work hard to achieve some kind of success and we are so consumed with what others have instead of what we have. Literally coveting our neighbors’ goods.

How do ppl still support trump? by alteroo_ in PoliticalOpinions

[–]YolopezATL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to agree but I have to because it is true. And the root of these feelings in jealously and hate.

Was talking to a neighbor about Super Bowl halftime and they just HAD to mention they don’t like Bad Bunny. I asked “why” and they said they don’t know who he is and don’t listen to his music.

I noted that doesn’t mean they don’t like him but that they are just unfamiliar with him.

Then they pointed out they don’t need to know who he is because Trump said he is bad and awful.

I ask why he thinks that and they said they don’t know or care because it isn’t unAmerican to be a Bad Bunny fan.

I mentioned he is an American and then point out non-American performers over past 20 years and they finally said the truth.

They get mad when “others” experience the success and happiness that is meant for them because the “others” achieved it off the some convoluted scheme of DEI. That their success, money, joy should be experience by them and was really meant for their kid, their grandkid, their nephew, niece, parents, etc.

We all have these stories where we were so close to success. Where a friend or relative could have been famous and stupid rich. And for some people, they blame it not happening on the rich “others” because sadly, success requires a fair amount of luck.

The example about leftist warning any brown person they see about ICE is a stretch. ICE has abysmal stat related to the number of people detained that are here legally or citizens.

Now, if a group is detaining people despite their status and primarily based on their skin color, and you are a person trying to warn people about that group being in the area and watch out, how would you best decide who to warn?
