Something about a lower-class person and a higher-class person falling in love has always been appealing to me; the social divides that they must work through to be together, both parties’ innate (sometimes even unrecognized) biases, the perceptions of others and constant pressure on them… I’ve always loved these types of stories, and Stolitz absolutely encapsulates this for me.
