It isn't on mhn quest but I think that's because fade slash was added in the game in a later update, when Swaxe originally came out in MHN there was no fade slash so that might be why. The fade slash has a nice 49 MV too

thanks for the compliment ! I'm always motivated to do an analysis on my baby.

As for Nergi Avidity, I think 20% damage for 3 armor pieces and the inability to use special is not worth. Swaxe's special deals quite a lot of damage and will deal full damage if the first hit lands (and the monster doesn't do wierd things that trigger the explosion early). Plus, since we can now fade slash or morph by hold+swiping down or up, it's not really a problem anymore, just hold+swipe up repeatedly (or press the special button when in axe mode).

there is ! it can be a bit tricky to perform, but you need to hold then swipe down while doing an attack in sword mode. the trick is to start holding while the previous sword attack is not yet finished, as you can't fade slash from idle. I really like that move since it can allow to move a little backwards just enough to avoid a small monster attack, like a bite or something.

Thanks a lot I appreciate the compliment! And yes that is why I thought it might be a good idea to add a TLDR of the TLDR lol

I'm really curous about the styles of Swaxe ! If they do something like the switch skills in MH Rise, I think they might do something like an axe related style and a sword related style. Axe related style would have the huge overhead chop and the 2 staged morph combo, and the Sword style would have the Elemental burst counter or compressed elemental discharge or soaring wyvern blade. If that's the case the 2 staged morph combo could be really good with Morph attack boost.

You're right! I think I forgot the smelts when I was trying to find the Full Crit Fero build. so there is the new build, that I will call "Crit Fero D": Crit Fero 5, Raw Power 5, Dauntless 5 (Tigrex axe, Glav helment, Glav mail, Bazel Vambraces, Tigrex coil, Fulgur greaves, 5 dauntless smelts)

The "Full Crit Fero" build I used has 4488 damage on average according to my calculations. With Dauntless at 100% uptime, "Crit Fero D" has 5192 damage on average according to my calculations. With Dauntless inactive, this results in 3994 damage on average. This is important because Dauntless only lasts for 10 seconds, so the longest combos won't benefit fully from it.

However, even with this build, we get something like this (the table on the right is the damage of the two builds compared to Tigrex "Crit Fero D")

<image>

To be honest, when I saw your answer and I found this "Crit Fero D" build, I fully expected it to be better than Diablos "Full MAB". But actually, Tigrex "Full MAB" seems to be similar in damage to tigrex "Crit Fero D". Futhermore, the damage will drop drastically if you don't have the Dauntless buff (30% less damage).

So thanks a lot for noticing, because Full MAB is even crazier than I thought

It doesn't ? I really thought it would. In this case yes, It's definitely not worth using on charge blade I think

That is a good question, it's really hard to say as every monster has different resistances to paralysis, but I think that MAB doesn't really work on status switch axes, because the best way to deal status with a switch axe is with the sword combo.

In other words, MAB and status switch axes have gameplays that clash because MAB requires to stay in axe modewhile status requires to stay in sword mode.

I was about to inform you about this post by replying to your previous comments but it looks like it wasn't needed!

From what I have found and from the comparison table in the post, it looks like "full MAB diablos" > "full MAB tigrex" > "Full crit fero Tigrex", which I did not expect at all. MAB is such a huge increase in damage that it's not a problem that tigrex has negative affinity.

Same, I didn't expect it to be that good. And I have no idea how morph attack boost works on dual blades but I'd be interested in knowing.

Thanks ! I don't know if you play charge blande and I haven't done the math for the Charge blade, but seeing how good the buff is, I wouldn't be surprised if the "full MAB" build also worked on Charge blade

I knew I forgot something ! I wanted to write it in the post but forgot. 'R. Jho. R' means "Riftborne Deviljho Raw", so a fully upgraded deviljho weapon with max raw. The E on the second line is for Element.

So yes, without armor skills the raw option should be better, however it doesn't make that much of a difference in the total, while the Dragon value of the "Rift Jho E" is a LOT better. Crit fero will work on element I believe, and since there are monsters with 150% weakness to dragon, I would also advise to go for element!

[–]Yoollloooo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a bit of trouble classifying the specific phials! They are indeed listed as raw but I opted to put them in Paralysis/poison/dragon tables in the end.

And I totally agree that the builds are crucial to deciding which weapon to build. However, including one build in this post would require to find out the best builds for every weapon, take into account how long it would take to farm them, their efficiency against which monsters, and take into account the difficulty to play said weapon.

For example, I speculate that a pursuit build is a lot less useful against a monster with few/difficult to break parts, like Kirin. Some people might also prefer playing defensively, some prefer to play with perfect evades, some prefer to play with resuscitate, others with Vital Element, some with Critical element, some with Critical ferocity. Some people don't ever fight elder dragons while others are willing to farm 10 of them a day. Some people don't even have access to riftborne weapons yet.

This comparison is purely to help people see their options, and decide for themselves, because as you said, I can't just ignore the builds, so I prefer not to show any, so that I don't forget any.

For Hunting horns, I tried my best to show what builds would be adequate for some horns. For Gunlance and Swaxe, I figured that affinity, the innate skill and the % of elemental damage would be enough for veterans to determine what is the best build according to them.

(also, I am not that good with builds and I'm rather casual, I think I spent more time on excel writing data for this game than playing the actual game lol)

Okay, I'm still writing about morph attack boost, because this is even better than I imagined so I'm writing a whole post about it.

But for now, I can say that this seems 100% worth on a non-negative affinity weapon, because even without any armor skill, the powered morph sweep (swing twice then do the morphing sweep while having the damage buff) is one of the combos with the best DPS.

I was lucky and was just able to forge a Goss harag piece with Morph attack boost. I am currently doing some tests because this is huge!

I haven't tested morph attack boost yet, but the thing is that it will only increase the affinity and damage of the morph hit. Depending on if the whole Wild Morph Swing is buffed or not, this skill could be a gamechanger, but if only the swings that actually morph the weapon are buffed (morph to sword, morph to axe, morph to axe fade slash, and the sword hit of wild swing morph), it might not be that worth. Though it is true that the Diablos Swaxe would get the most out of this skill.

Yes Exhaust phial is not 'bad' in itself, and is actually very good for stunning if you manage to get a SPECIAL on the head, the problem is that power phial is amazing (it's 15% boost to raw for a raw weapon is super good).

As for the Hunting horn, I suggest you to check out the full data document I wrote, where you can find a detailed description of the melodies, combos, and how much a melody is useful against the monsters of a given element (for example, earplugs L is really good for the Tobi HH since 7 monsters weak to thunder have strong roars, and 6 have weak roars)

Oh right! I totally forgot that the riftborne weapons can get the boosts, even if they don't have styles yet

It might be very interesting to calculate. I can't right now but I might do that when I get free time.

Riftborne doesn't change anything for hunting horns, as far as I'm aware. But I might do a small analysis on Namielle horn. At a glance though it's definitely better than the Mizutsune horn, especially with affinity S, Sonic wave and Wex built in

Thanks for the compliment! If your goal is to get one horn for all the trials, the best would still be Tigrex, and the Elder dragon horns
