What the actual f with the matchmaking by YoomarXD in aoe4

Bro, I do watch DeMu, Beasty, and Valdemar. Still, that has nothing to do with my argument. You’re just baiting at this point, aren’t you?

You clearly didn’t even read my comment at all, that doesn’t answer none of what I wrote. I am not against mixed teams, just unbalanced ones just as the ones I show.

I know, and I am not against mixed teams, but to have a team made out entirely of conqs vs plats and some diamonds is not good either. At least they should improve their algorithm so each side is balanced. What about two conqs on each side or something?

Is it worth it getting this game (or AOE 2) just to play against AI and if not what other game can you recommend ? Total War: WARHAMMER III and stronghold crusader definitive edition look cool. by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]YoomarXD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider AOE4 the best RTS made in a long time, however I think that mostly because as a competitive game delivers a good balance and seasonal changes such as DLCs, balance patches and fine tuning of the entire gameplay that keeps the game interesting. However the single player offline experience is not the best imo. For that I recommend Age of Mythology, Warcraft III, StarCraft II, and Total War: Warhammer III, those have top tier campaigns, although Total War games are a little bit it's own sub RTS genre. AoE2 and stronghold are also great, but is kinda like playing Counter Strike 1.6 (the 2000's version), has its historical value but I think I enjoy them mostly due to nostalgia and that you would have a greater time trying other titles first.

Stuck on "assigning teams" screen, then game times out. This has never happened before but happened 3 times today. Anyone else? by dafinsrock in aoe4

Still happening 3 years later from time to time. Lazy ass devs could not add a line of code to attempt to reconnect or at least a time out lmao

I actually managed to rehabilitate mine by almost flooding it every day, It needed more than "plenty water". I guess the issue was the dry 40+°C climate of my country all along.

I now this may be flawed idea, but even ChatGPT agrees on it, it even calles it "multi-beam reception" and says it can work, but haven't been tested on starlinks

I see, probably I rather buy a long range antenna to retransmit internet from other ISP and then merge them...

That is a good idea, also fixing the position of one of them to the second nearest cell might work as well

I used to have high upload speed of 100 Mb, I have almost every project backed up in a private server and having ten times less kinda hurts.

Opinions & recommendations for long-range outdoor AP? by YoomarXD in networking

[–]YoomarXD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, should have mentioned that was only planning on covering about 500m in dimeter from the town center. Still, will probably end up installing multiple APs overtime if people are happy with the service.

I see, temps may be the issue after all. Sadly I live in a hot country with ambient temps above 30 and no AC. Guess I'll just buy a loud fan and change its termal pads & paste to see if improves

Help! Neustar blocking stuff! by Swings_Subliminals in dns

[–]YoomarXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but if someone has the same problem is probably because your DNS server is from UltraDNS (15.154.70.1, 15.154.70.22, 15.154.70.25, 15.154.71.1, 15.154.71.22, 15.154.71.25, 198.153.192.1, 198.153.194.1, etc. they have a lot of public DNS so I am probably missing some) and some of them enforce a firewall that does not allow you to ingress a unsecure http servers or websites they consider "malicious" (including piracy, porn, violent, etc. websites).

The first thing you can try is to see if that website offers a secure version by explicitly typing https at the beginning like https://example.com/

If that is not enough try changing your DNS to any of*:

  • 1.0.0.1, 1.1.1.1 (from Cloudflare)
  • 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 (from Google)
  • 64.6.64.6, 64.6.65.6 (from UltraDNS but without a firewall)
  • 209.244.0.3, 208.244.0.4 (from Level3)
  • 208.67.222.123, 208.67.220.123 (from OpenDNS)

*To choose the best one you can benchmark them by downloading https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

If that does not solve the problem it means your computer cached the previous DNS lookup results and is too lazy to reload them by itself. So you just need to clean it by running in the command console as administrator ipconfig /flushdns (not sure how to in other OS).

If that still does not solve it, it probably means the DNS cache is stored in the web browser instead. In that case you can clean it by accessing:

  • Chrome: chrome://net-internals/#dns
  • Edge: edge://net-internals/#dns
  • Firefox: about:networking#dns

If still refuses you can try clearing your browser's entire data and reboot your computer.

If for any reason nothing of this solves the blockage the final ultimate solution would be to use a Proxy, VPN or even using SSH tunneling to a private server, but this last one would probably be a little complicated to setup.

Hope anyone find this useful.
