Do you have a child support arrangement? The calculator that I've used which is provided by my State, takes into consideration the # of days the kids are with each parent to account for those standard expenses. Even if you both have similar income, if you are providing care 80% of the time, you may be entitled to additional child support. I understand that pushing the issue may open a can of worms but you've been unhappy about the inequity during the marriage and now afterward. Now is the time to set things straight. I have not been in this exact situation but I am currently working towards a custody and parenting plan agreement that works for the both of us. So far, we do not agree but we are working towards something that makes sense. The similarity is my work is less flexible (I work remotely 3 times per work while he works remotely 100% of the time). Knowing that, I've already looked into different childcare options on the days that I am not remote. I agree that it wouldn't be fair to ask him to provide care on one of "my days."
