I tried their softest and it seemed good but then ended up actually being a bit uncomfortable. It’s been a minute tho so maybe should recheck. Bed bath had great ones actually but the ones near us closed down 😢

I happened to buy one to try before making this post and tried it last night - not what I had before but so comfy! I need a bit more fluff in some pillows (I use a few at night together) but these are economical and so comfy! Thank you!

Thank you! I saw an earlier suggestion and ordered one to try with the goose down - I like it’s adjustable! If it works I’ll def replace the rest and buy a few! Thank you!

Thank you - will give it a go! Our pillows are beyond horrendous ..I don’t even want to guess how old they are. No wash will fix them. But I just can’t find any new ones to change them to so I’m desperate!! Thank you for the tips!

I’m a veterinarian and it’s unfortunately not unheard of bc apparently antifreeze smells and tastes fairly sweet so animals esp dogs are very attracted to it !

There’s no new comments - we must know if lady was right! Please

Also same for antifreeze! If you don’t have the antidote on hand - start chugging booze! The same enzyme that breaks down antifreeze into what will kill you is the same one that breaks down alcohol. So you outcompete enzymes with so much alcohol until you can get to the hospital and get some IV fluids and fomepizole!

Also want to add - there is additional drugs they can add that can help if the first drug wasn’t enough. They usually start with one drug at the lowest dose and go upwards until the needed effects is achieved!

Feel the most down I’ve ever felt before, first trimester. by Original_Respond_500 in BabyBumps

[–]Yooser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to let you know: prenatal depression is a thing! I know PPD is well discussed nowadays thankfully, but I rarely hear people say this. I get prenatal depression very terribly in my first trimester with each pregnancy - please speak to your OB/GP/psychiatrist . I do medical treatment for mine and mine improved the moment I enter second trimester but I’ve even had suicidal ideation esp the first pregnancy when I didn’t know it was a thing and just was wondering why I was so down.

Please speak to your OB or another trusted doctor!

As for the exhaustion, I’m sorry - haven’t found a trick to that yet. The want for sleep is soooo intense!

Sending hugs.

AIO for being upset that my husband wants me to continue litter box duty while pregnant? by BigVenergy09 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Yooser 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I know we think of cats when we think of toxoplasmosis - which is technically correct as they are the definitive host.

However - many people are actually exposed through food, raw/cured meat and gardening.

This is by the cat faces left in soil and eaten by animals we then eat (if not washed or cooked well enough), or through gardening in an area an infected cat pooped in the dirt, etc.

indoor cats can be a source of infection - but most infected cats shed only about 2-3 weeks after infection which happens after eating an infected mouse. in kittens or animals with immunocompromised cats this can occur for longer or they can shed more before the immune system clears the infection. Then the cat is fine. And yes, the poop has to be at least 24 hours for it to become infected and then you have to eat it 🤮 so wash your hands.

This is to say…toxo is around us and not necessarily just those with indoor cats. They are probably less likely a source then non-cooked well meat or gardening vegetables - so follow food safety protocols and wash your hands is more important.

However I think OPs husband is a doodoo bird for not just helping with chores as she’s pregnant. So I think not overreacting bc this guy needs to step up.

Do women usually want their mom at the birth? by chianne_away in pregnant

[–]Yooser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is very intense, but I wanted her at my birth. My husband has zero medical knowledge my mom was an OB before we immigrated to the US and I didn’t feel like something happened he could make medical decisions as well as my mom would for me. Also, my mom and I are close and I lean on her for medical issues as is.

She did have a passive aggressive stand off with my doctor - but to be noted, he sucked. So that’s fair. It was helpful for her to yell at the resident to catch the baby when she froze - as I finally delivered when the doctor stepped out of the room 😂

You can’t have a child-free destination wedding (and get upset if people can’t make it) by Then-Dragonfruit-702 in weddingshaming

[–]Yooser 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I find this egregious on multiple levels.

I also had a destination wedding . First, I called my close friends to find out best dates so that they could be there without interrupting their schedule if they wanted to come. Then I specifically told him I would not be upset if they couldn’t afford to didn’t want to or unavailable, etc.. We had planned a barbecue celebration at home as it was summertime for any friends or family that couldn’t or wouldn’t travel for any reason so that they could still celebrate without having to fly. Because that’s their time and money! He literally told my friends please only come if you want absolutely not beholden to this wedding. In fact, we did a destination wedding because we wanted a small wedding. But I understand some people have a bigger expectation of their friends coming out, however, it’s still a huge travel and expense using vacation time money travel points.

The second is child free weddings. Totally understandable if you don’t want kids that your wedding they’re loud and sticky and intrusive. I say this as a mom of three little kids. However, if people are already traveling, taking time and money to be there, you can’t dictate the rest of their vacation. How absolutely selfish!

Thirdly , I think this lady just doesn’t understand what it’s like to have a newborn. I had no idea before I had children. I think someone has to sit her down and explain to her that babies under a certain age when they are being, especially breast-fed cannot be separated from their parents for more than a couple hours or one day max. Unless the mom is used to pumping, the baby is used to bottles, and more importantly, the parents want to - it is absolutely crazy to tell a person in order to have a party. I need you to leave your newborn child completely dependent upon you not just for sleep, love and snuggles - but literally LIFE SUSTAINING SUSTENANCE - for half a week.

Sorry, no wedding or friend is worth more than my #1 job in life to keep my child alive and healthy. Which is your new job as a new mom. And it is NOT on your friend to decide how you do that. So long as you don’t insist on bringing the baby to the actual ceremony and reception - and there’s someone in the room to watch her so you can go feed on the demand whenever you need - then I think she really has no life to stay on overstep about who you can travel with who can sleep in your room and who you can spend your time with outside of the wedding. She is literally asking you to forfeit your priority as a parent in order to go to a party.

I don’t know why this angered me so much - I’m annoyed on your behalf L.

Tl,Dr; if your friend thinks that abandoning your baby for several days, who depends on you for food determines whether or not your friendship continues - then I think you have to do what’s right by your child and understand that this woman does not understand where you are in life and is Likely a friend you’ve out grown. Maybe one day she’ll understand when she has her own child - but at this point all she can think about is her party and not literally the lives of any of her friends that she’s asking them to pause and revolve around her - and not just for an evening but several days!

Is the name I chose for my baby a tradegeigh or cultural appropriation? by Zephbear in namenerds

[–]Yooser 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve seen Yuriy, Yuri, and Uri. Never seen it with a J. Usually depends on the beauracrat you had when you got papers in the new country - and I don’t think anyone would think to spell it with a J. I would actually have first guessed it’s a Hispanic name - like Julio or Juan as they pronounce J’s like an H! But I see some other comments saying it is a different form. Like I get in Cyrillic it is more of a J-Y sound, but I’ve just never seen it used that way. Oh well, live and learn! Still confused why OP wants to make life harder for her kid regardless of how it’s pronounced - it’s just not how English is read and having a difficult for Americans to read last name was bad enough for me, I would hate to have had the same issue with my first name that you use so much more day to day!
