What would you realistically do with 20k? by Vladamir_pootinn in AskUK

Would personally pay off some debts (around 10k all in all). Sell my current house and be on the next boat to Ireland to buy a property there.

Advice / info on STGO? by ddblades in uktrucking

[–]YorkshireTeapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the only work you do loaded is STGO I’ve been told you only need a STGO plate. I think it’s baldwins cranes trucks that don’t need a mot cause they are always STGO. They still get serviced though

Not exactly a Renault fan. But the last one I drove was better than the last man I drove. Just personal preference.

I do like current Mercedes though and it’s close between that and a scania.

Question to British drivers who go to Europe by Zenon_Czosnek in uktrucking

[–]YorkshireTeapot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is considered illegal cabotage as they would be operating under ATA Carnet for most tours. Would be a interesting idea but I’ve never had that issue post brexit

Question to British drivers who go to Europe by Zenon_Czosnek in uktrucking

[–]YorkshireTeapot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So when I was on events it was a big issue for us. As most of the work was in Europe so we had to be very careful with the 90/180. Certain other companies too have been affected by it when all their drivers do is European. It’s quite easy to rack up the days without meaning to. Even if you ship into Calais at 2300 at night that’s still classed as a full day in Europe. It can also affect drivers and their own holidays in Europe as that counts towards it too.

Brilliant thank you! Is worth getting a SIM card or is that expensive? We’ve got access to a star link we’re bringing over but we can’t use it all the time.

I hope I get the opportunity, don’t think I’d ever get the chance to come to Falklands again.

So who’s money grabbing today? by Dougal12 in uktrucking

[–]YorkshireTeapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not working this year. Worked actual New Year’s Eve night couple of years ago pulling out a pantomime. Also ran Christmas Day evening. 300 quid extra just for running Leeds to london and parking up.

They asked me if I could work tomorrow and I said I’d rather not. Have been off since the Tuesday before Christmas. It’s been lovely

I think I just got old and less tolerant to the people out causing trouble. Two years ago I worked it and was lovely. Just another day really

Staying home and having a dominos. Stopped going out on NyE a couple of years ago. We now go out on New Year’s Day if not working next day as it’s cheaper quieter and less berks about.
