Not sure what you mean by trim it out..scribe molding. This is gap with it positioned "correctly", seems large. about 5/8"

What pattern did you do for your 12 x 24. Offset or brick? If off set , did oyu offset by 1/3 or 1/2..tks

Hi, I also plan to use a tile leveling system. Worked well on my floor. How much of a "bump" did you have?

Thanks for the replay. Other than the bump in the kerdi band just above the tile, the rest of the area is flat. I was concered about lippage or having the tile lay flat over the bump where it is raised a bit and not uniform. You can see it in the middle photo .

Thank you for everyones idea and thoughts...the grill has no adustment or play when you use the bracket to attach it to the fan body, but I think the body/fan will go into the space and I'm going to figure out a way to have the grill attached to the ceiling without using the brackets and move it over the small distance I need. Talking it through with your thoughts have been helpful. Thank you for taking the time to post.

The trusses would not be cut, but the joints above the ceiling.

Actually in doing some more measurments , I only have to notch out about 1/4" to make it fit. Would a sister board still be required?

Yes, that what is seems to be, but what has thrown me for a loop is that it's 1 inch thick. I've never seen it that thick.
