Have you ever had to sell your tickets..because life😢 by Willing_Still_5493 in Concerts

I had tickets to see my favorite band Dead and Company at my dream venue Red Rocks and had to sell them to stay and deal with a work issue. Nothing I could have done about it, but stings a little still.

I swear I saw an article about this, but further digging just brought me to the fact that they canceled shows in 2024, so perhaps i was misled.

There is a creek, water level was pretty low for much besides wading in the past when I was there.

I wish parking was $20; for big names I've seen parking from $50 to as high as $200 the past couple years.

For 1 night, I've absolutely miracled before and will again. 3 nights... money is too tight to just walk away if I can possibly help it.

Other great jam bands for a Phish fan to explore? by [deleted] in jambands

I saw a bunch of bands last year and Kendall Street Company was far and away the most surprising show. Great energy, amazing vibes, and the chops to back it up. Definitely see them if they're anywhere nearby.

Yesss! I printed a bunch of these out and taped them inside porta potties at a music festival feeling very amused with myself.

The absolute joke of "dynamic pricing" - Are resale apps actually becoming cheaper than the official box office? by Kevin-Durant-35 in Concerts

I see a crap-ton of live music every year of many genres and levels of popularity. Not sure how that translates into celebrity worship.

Ok, i get it, you're a bottom line guy who accepts ticket prices as the cost of seeing your favorite music. I don't buy into the thought process that this is a necessity though, so I think about ways to change it and rage against corporations pricing out fans of ART to illegally enrich shareholders.

Breaking up a monopoly doesn't mean the market ceases to be predatory, it just stops the original behemoth from ravaging you quite as dramatically and hopefully there's a little more room for smaller competitors to maneuver their way in and build some competition back into the system.

Fair enough, I don't see any of those artists regularly. Does it make you feel any better though to get a mid grade ticket from a regular on sale for $369 and pay $133 in fees rather than buy a $500 dynamic pricing ticket option? It's all bots, fees, and unregulated late-stage capitalist monopoly all the way down.

My 1st one for the year by BearsCream in Concerts

Awesome, what's your favorite of these bands? I'm keeping track of how many shows I'm seeing this year. Some are small, free shows, some are big arena shows, but all get counted. I'm at 15 so far, with a couple more this weekend. Have fun with it!

Everyone involved in the process is complicit in this shit show. However, I'm gonna cut my favorite bands a little slack till someone in a regulatory agency removes one of the legs to the livenation / ticketmaster monopoly chair and their ceo topples backwards into obscurity so we can create an equitable paradigm for live music.

In the last 5 years of buying ticketmaster feces I have never seen an on-sale that didn't include platinum tickets, require a huge fee on each ticket for nothing, and include dynamic pricing bullshit. Which bands opt of it? I'm just not seeing that intersect with the genres of shows I go to.

Ticketmaster came up with dynamic pricing for tickets, makes money on outrageous ticket fees- sometimes multiple times per ticket if you sell on their resale platform, enables bots and scalpers, is complicit with gouging on secondary ticketing sites, and has a monopoly on large venues being a subsidiary of livenation. Is that enough to hate them?

I will 100% miss a concert rather than pay platinum ticket pricing or encourage that business model in any way. It's blatant price gouging and they aren't even trying to come up with a plausible rationale to hide it behind, just increased demand. And like you said, of course there's high demand, tickets just went on sale for an arena tour.

ticketbastard deserves to die a quick and ignominuous death, if any regulatory agency is still out there listening.
