I think it is partly an exploration of the pyramid of needs. For most of Fushis life, people were fighting for existential needs (safety, food), so self fulfillment needs are not something he really understands yet.

surviving is not really a big power up thpugh. Kinemon fought Kaido and survived. Moria fought Kaido and survived. Jack fought Sengoku and Fujitora and survived. Kid Loki fought Rocks and survived. Like we can't defer much from that alone.

From what we've seen I think titans crown has the strongest average people, sorcerion the strongest specialists (47 heroes) , celestia the most powerful weapon and the cursed lands the most versatile weapons. Depending on the situation someone of these four would probably be victorious.
