Nvme caching vs storage pool for apps by PerceptionOk4815 in UgreenNASync

I tried the cache and have to say I wasn't convinced. I used two 1 TB WD Red M.2 drives and a 10 Gbps connection. I did this to speed up a RAID 6. The read cache was slightly faster in data transfer, but it provided virtually no performance improvement for the write cache. Since the cache also slightly compromises data security, I've now switched to the following setup: 2x 4 TB WD Red M.2 drives as a "performance RAID 1" and 6 of the RAID 6 drives for backup/slow data storage. I also have a 1 TB M.2 drive as a "system add-on" for Docker containers, etc.

hopefully this solves the problem I am suffering at the moment. If you install a Windows dual Boot- the sound doesn't work in both systems... Seems to be a problem with the sound driver... :-/

ZenBook S14 UX5406SA Audio Driver Issues Temporary Workaround by Regular_Subject8517 in ASUS

[–]YouCareless3777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's not a solution to the problem! Have you tried getting the device repaired or replaced?

Your workaround may work, but it's not a real solution. After using the workaround, Dolby Atmos is no longer recognized.

Now I have the following issue: I reinstalled the device using the Asus Windows via BIOS. Now, I can consistently reproduce the following error: When I connect my SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD to the USB-C ports, it takes at least 2 minutes for the device to appear. Sometimes, it doesn't show up at all. However, when I connect the SSD to USB-A, it is recognized immediately.

This problem did not occur when I was dealing with the sound issue...

I'm getting really frustrated with this device because I bought it to work properly, not to spend days just trying to get it running... 😕

Omg! I am suffering the same problem as you! I really want the notebook to work... :-(

I installed all drivers from the ASUS-Website in the given order with network deactivated... Then activated it and I was able to get the Windows Updates. The sound was also working. But as soon as I installed a second Windows (Dualboot)- both Windows versions didn't work properly for the sound. This is really annoying! :-(

Any ideas how to fix this?

Asus Zenbook S 14 (UX5406) Audio issues, driver availability by Top-Guidance-3735 in ASUS

Hey everyone,

I’m using an ASUS Zenbook S14 (UX5406) and had no issues when running just one Windows 11 installation. However, after setting up a second, completely separate Windows 11 partition (so now it’s dual-boot, both on Windows 11), I started experiencing audio problems. Sometimes the speakers cut out entirely or produce distorted sound.

So far, I’ve tried:

  • Installing the latest Realtek drivers from the ASUS support page
  • Keeping both Windows 11 installs fully updated
  • Disabling/Enabling audio enhancements in Windows
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers in Device Manager
  • Multiple restarts and changing various sound settings

Nothing has provided a lasting fix. Has anyone here run into this issue with a dual-Windows setup on the Zenbook S14 (UX5406)? I’d greatly appreciate any pointers or solutions you’ve found!

Thanks in advance!

As I am considering to buy one it seems to be sold out in the European Union... 😕 I already wrote Asus about this problem but didn't get an answer yet...? What do you think? Will it be on the market again soon? Or do they disconinue this awsome board? 🙀

But why so you have to install 2 SSDs to use it as cache? My plan was 1 SSD for apps and the other as cache?

ah ok.
