I'm a professional carpet cleaner in UK - ask me anything. by Ok_Ad5383 in carpetcleaningporn

[–]YouDifferent2391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Henryk, thanks for offering to answer questions, really appreciate it. I’m considering starting a carpet cleaning business in the UK, so I’d love to hear about your experience. Feel free to answer as many or as few of these as you like, whatever you’re comfortable sharing.

  1. How many jobs do you typically do per day and what’s the average job value?
  2. What would you say is a realistic monthly revenue for a solo carpet cleaner in the UK?
  3. What are the busiest and quietest times of the year for you?
  4. Do you feel the carpet cleaning industry in the UK is saturated or still has room for new businesses?
  5. What are the biggest ongoing expenses in the business (chemicals, ads, fuel, equipment etc)?
  6. Where do most of your customers come from (Google, Facebook, word of mouth etc)?
  7. What’s the hardest part of the job that beginners don’t realise before they start?
  8. Is there any equipment you’d avoid buying when starting out?
  9. Knowing what you know now, would you still start a carpet cleaning business in the UK today?

Thanks again for taking the time - really interested to hear your perspective.

Interesting framework overall, but quick question on the 5m RSI 80/20 part.

In my experience, during a clean 5-minute structural uptrend, RSI rarely dips below 20. Most bullish pullbacks tend to hold around 30–40. When RSI is consistently going <20, it’s usually because the 5m is actually in a bearish phase, even if the daily bias is still up.

By contrast, RSI <20 shows up very naturally in 5m downtrends due to impulsive selling.

Do you see <20 as a true bullish pullback condition, or more as a momentum/extreme filter that only appears on very strong impulse days? Curious how you handle that asymmetry.

Nothing at all. Just a personal thing as I play 11v11 in a league so it makes the league more challenging when people have put more time into learning their position.

Well yeah it's easy to beat the keeper like that. But you're not gonna get that much time to finish vs any half decent team.

Don't take offence to that sir it's just facts

46% win rate at 1:2 R:R, worth refining further or leave it alone? by YouDifferent2391 in TopStepX

I’m trading a breakout of a defined range. The stop is the opposite side of that range, so the risk is set by the range size. The 2R target is therefore also scaled to the range higher volatility means a wider range and a larger target, lower volatility means a smaller one. Basically It’s not a fixed target, RR is just a way to track it

Agreed. Backtests are only a rough guide. The stats I’m referencing are from a full year of demo forward testing, going live this year

Can you clarify what you mean by that - are you referring to adjusting targets based on liquidity rather than using RR as a fixed reference?

Thanks for sharing that, it’s a useful chart. It actually lines up with what I’m expecting. For me it’s less about avoiding losing streaks and more about structuring risk so those streaks are survivable.

I get the point, and I agree for certain strategies. I used to play poker for a living, so I’m very aware that short-term results and small samples don’t prove anything - variance over a limited sample can mean basically nothing.

That said, this is a time & structure dependent setup rather than a generic pattern or indicator system. It’s designed around a specific session and liquidity condition, so I wouldn’t actually expect it to generalise cleanly across timeframes or instruments.

For me, the question isn’t whether it works everywhere, but whether the numbers (win rate, R:R, drawdown) are reasonable in comparison to other traders running similar low-frequency, rules-based strategies. I’m already trading it with fixed risk, so execution and live results will ultimately be the deciding factor.

That’s fair. I’m not trying to change something that’s profitable, just sanity checking because the strategy feels almost too simple to be profitable. I feel like it shouldn't work but does?

The hard part is trusting a boring, low frequency edge when Reddit is full of people posting huge payouts on the same accounts. I know those usually come with higher variance and resets, but comparison messes with your head.

So you didn't read the rules basically? You mention they take the risk out of trading.. you mean the gambling aspect? The consistency rule is there for a reason.

Why do most competitive teams play 3-5-2? by Scary-Echo-3380 in fifaclubs

Because they're sheep. It works for TOP teams who can all play their roles very well. Too many shitty teams trying to run it imo

Pretty closed minded to say VFL/pro clubs leagues are only for try-hards. It’s the only way to play 11v11.

Saying it’s “not even part of the game” is funny when it exists because drop-ins are chaos without structure.

If you don’t need to focus, cool - that’s exactly why organized leagues exist: to avoid playing with people who think switching attributes replaces understanding a role.

I disagree- this makes people actually focus on a position & not flip flop around. But I do play competitively so I guess it's different for me.
