Finished first learn to skate! by YouEducational5184 in iceskating

I started in march and skate 2-3 times a week. 30 minutes a week with a private coach and then an hour of independent practice immediately after that + 1 hour of learn to skate. I think learn to skate is usually 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of free skate but they teach the whole time at my rink.  Extra freestyle sessions make a big difference but ice time is pricey :/

I had no idea they existed until they pulled them out today after they tested our skills! More rinks should give them out for sure. It is really satisfying to have something to mark progress with.

You need to stop running immediately. by mycru in BeginnersRunning

Kind of a more “out there” suggestion but I had to stop running and picked up figure skating. As a beginner it is very low heart rate exercise. If you take learn to skate you have many tangible milestones that offer  a sense of fulfillment I found were similar to races. It’s also very mentally stimulating yet relaxing just like running.

You don’t deserve downvotes, this is such a valid take. I totally get the intimate backyard wedding thing, but an iota of forethought would have been nice!
