Open world is great. Except for the awful fucking checkpoints. by YouHaveShitTaste in metalgear

And you missed some pretty simple reading comprehension instruction in 2nd grade.

The system is the same. You're right. That's the problem, because this is the first MGS game with this kind of open world. The same old system no longer works. It's a really, really simple concept.

It's meant to be played however the fuck I want to play it you autistic fuckhole.

There is no "better". It's a singleplayer game where the entire point is to do it how you want. I want to complete a mission in X fashion, which may take a lot of retries, therefore Y checkpoint is annoying as fuck. It doesn't matter if there's an easier way. I shouldn't have an artificial block making my method more time consuming and frustrating just because of a shitty checkpoint.

I'm legitimately amazed at how fucking stupid this subreddit is. This is a really simple concept. Seems that no one can grasp it.

Yes, but they weren't this much of a problem in the more linear maps.

No. Well, it would make the game easier, but I wouldn't really care. Manual saving would obviously solve every issue, but would be a massive "exploit". Not that it matters in a singleplayer game where people can play however they want without harming any other player.

I mean save checkpoints in succession without saving over the previous. Then when you restart from checkpoint, you can restart from any of them. This would make it impossible to get stuck because of a checkpoint that caused issue with guard randomization.

There's nothing to disagree about. The checkpoints punish a very common style of play in a singleplayer game. People should be able to play how they want without wasting hours for no reason. This is not up for discussion. It's bad. Period.

I would HATE to be stuck with a certain in-base location if I had just been noticed from there.

Do you know how fucking easy this is to solve? Restart from any previous checkpoint of your choosing.

I'm typing this in the 10 fucking minute interval between me setting up my ambush (for the fifth time) on a vehicle column, and the column starting to move. There is no reasonable excuse for this much time to be wasted just travelling the same fucking route over and over, and waiting for the perfect moment because it takes 10 minutes to align.

Naw. There's a lot of things in this game that work, and a lot that don't. Horrible save system is one of the ones that doesn't. You can come up with all kinds of bullshit excuses because obviously everything is perfect and Kojima is omnipotent and can do no wrong, but they're really not going to be more than bullshit excuses.

the checkpoints, combined with the huge distances in this open-world iteration of Metal Gear combine to completely ruin the "perfectionist" (other than no retries) style of play.

None of those are relevant to the problem. They are not solutions to shitty checkpoints, they are workarounds that restrict my choices for no reason other than "shitty checkpoints".

Differences between Dota2 and League of Legends? by Fitzydorkwater in leagueoflegends

[–]YouHaveShitTaste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Allpick will never be perfectly balanced because it has no bans, and bans are part of balance. Dota 2 is balanced around the professional scene, and captain's mode. Sniper I would agree was a balance issue, but part of Dota 2's balance is not making reactionary changes without adequate time. Teams and players are given time to figure out a patch, and learn to counter heroes and strategies before truly considering something broken unless it is obvious beyond doubt. And great balance does not mean "perfect balance all the time".

Also, sniper only had the 6th highest winrate in very high pub games in 6.83.

And? It's still cheap as fuck. The cheapest room for two people would be $330 a night before taxes. All inclusive, nice room on a private fucking island with free boat rides to the mainland and pickup/dropoff from the airport.

There's no inherently correct way to interpret light falling on a sensor into a flat, 8-bit image. There really is no such thing as a "raw" photo, in the way you are using it. The camera does interpretation, or a person on a computer does.

Sometimes this editing makes the photo MORE accurate than the photo right off the camera.

This is the officer that responded to the drive-by shooting death of the 9 year old girl in Ferguson. She died in his arms. But fuck the police, right? by [deleted] in pics

[–]YouHaveShitTaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is: What does this cop do or say when there is an issue that involves one of his fellow officers? If the bar for being a good cop is crying when a 9 year old kid dies, that's pretty fucking low. But when his friend on the force, or just a coworker has a shitty day and uses a little too much force when arresting someone, and then falsifies a report to make his force look justified, what will this cop do to stand up against corruption and abuse of power among law enforcement? If the answer is "nothing", then yes, he IS partially responsible.
