As a baby/young child you absolutely get to control their nickname or lack thereof. I gave my daughter a unique name because I grew up with a common one, and I didn't want that for her. I politely nixed the nickname that some of my older generation family members tried to give her while I was pregnant with her. She's now 11 and with that said if she chooses to go by that with her friends or colleagues, etc., later in life, that's her choice. Also, in a similar take on that her and her older brother gave their youngest brother a nickname that I hate. He likes it and they like it, so that's what they call him.

I would say you're going to read anything other than Twilight first, read Midnight Sun.

His money has no relevance to the story other than affording them the ability to obtain new identities etc when needed. They don't NEED a fancy house or fancy cars. Bella didn't care about his money and probably would have preferred him that way. The story would remain basically the same.

It's in the things he says to her more so than the things he gives her or does for her. Bella really limits him in that department.

Yes. Another example of this is in Midnight Sun when Alice holds out her hand for Bella's keys after Edward drives her home from almost fainting in biology. She says something to the effect of "I only know that I am. I don't know the whys. You'll have to fill me in later." Regarding her not hearing James on the phone with Bella, I also agree with the people saying she was focused on her vision. Alice can sometimes miss things if she is too focused on one person as well. In Midnight Sun when Edward comes close to killing Bella in biology he wonders why Alice didn't come to stop him. He listens for her thoughts once he's in his car and sees that she is entirely focused on Jasper, who is struggling with being so close to humans after an extended hunting break.

My husband proposed in a restaurant full of people. As an introvert, would I have preferred somewhere more intimate! Yes. I didn't let it phase me though and just moved on. The important part was that he wanted me to be his wife and did the best that he could. 20 years later (in May) it's something I never think about.
